Maryland teen [boy] suspended for wearing skirt to school: report

A Maryland teen is charging his high school with discrimination after he was suspended for wearing a skirt to class.

Warren Evans told NBC 4 Washington in an interview broadcast Friday that teachers at Calvert High in southern Maryland sent him home for dressing like a girl earlier this month.

"I feel annoyed that they would go out of their way to make it a problem just with me wearing a skirt," the teen, who says he is openly bisexual, told the station."

School officials wouldn't comment on the suspension, but the district's dress code policy said it's up to teachers to decide whether students’ clothes or haircuts are appropriate.

Evans, who didn't give his age, said the handbook isn't specific enough.

"It didn't say anywhere in the code of conduct or dress code that boys can't dress like girls," he told NBC 4, while appearing on camera in a tight pink skirt, high heels and a long black wig.

Oh no. What happens when political correctness goes up against school rules? If the dress code indicates that each sex should dress according to their sex, is that discriminatory?

On the other hand, if the dress code is silent on the matter of dressing in a manner associated with the opposite sex, was he discriminated against?

And what about his being openly “bi-sexual”? Remember, bi-sexual is the “B” in the “LGBT” community. Could Lambda Legal and the ACLU get involved with suing this school???

Why do these schools makes such a big deal out of this stuff? They take a nothing problem and turn it into a lawsuit.

These school administrators are paid way too much money to be this stupid.

If Obama and Moochelle had a son, he’d absolutely look like Warren.

Let me ask you this. What boundaries or guidelines should we have? I would agree with the idea that the last thing we need to see here are lawsuits over gay rights and all that crap.

However, what is wrong with having certain minimal standards? When these kids get out in the world, they will be working and have to comply with dress codes at work. They will have all sorts of restrictions on their “freedoms” as defined by liberals. You don’t have unlimited rights to “self expression” and all that. None of us do.

All of us, including liberals, have to do certain things to conform to guidelines set by our employers, schools, and society at large. The real question, in my opinion, is where do we draw the lines.

If we keep going the way we are with “gay” rights....employers will also be sued....and charged with discrimination when some transgendered, bisexual, whatever who dresses weirdly wants to be the teacher in a 3rd grade classroom...

Way back in the puritan days of the 1980s when I was in school, shorts were out of the question. If girls wore skirts they had to be knee length.

When the class of 1980 has shirts printed up that said “Kick ass class” they weren’t allowed to wear them in school.

I and all my fellow budding gentlemen wore skirts to school one day a year all through Jr. High and High School.

"Sadie Hawkins Day".

Of course, this was in the '60's and '70's, when going to school was a lot like going to church.

Now that I think of it, we used to have "Sadie Hawkins Day" at the church as well.

Lighten up, people.

I graduated HS in 1970 and the girls were wearing micro-minis then.

Homosexuals claim that bisexual people are really homosexuals who are afraid to come out of the closet. You see, if you are “bi-curious” you ARE gay, but if you try to “convert” (or counsel) someone who is “curious” you are a big meany.

Uniforms would be a good idea.

This kid needs psychological counseling.

It is my understanding that there is no such thing as a “bi-sexual.” These people, given a choice of a sexual partner, will always choose a member of their own sex. They are homosexuals.

A long time ago in this country women were subject to arrest if they appeared in public wearing pants. Then one day some brave ladies wore puffy and very frilly bloomers and managed to get away with that. Eventually sanity prevailed and women were allowed to wear pants.

This is a somewhat similar situation. It's only bits of cloth! Who gives a flying flip what people want to wear as long as their naughty bits don't show.

Most guys would look simply ridiculous in a skirt! Of course, some women also do. (ducking and running) :-)

But a few guys can pull it off...like Andrej Pejic, he looks good in a skirt and is a fashion model....to each his own, why should I care....just don't try to convince me to wear one.
