Former Wis. AG calls on Walker to explain fund

Former Wisconsin Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager wants Republican Gov. Scott Walker to explain his criminal defense fund.

Milwaukee prosecutors are investigating Walker's associates during his tenure as Milwaukee County executive. Five people have been charged so far.

Walker has transferred campaign contributions into a criminal defense fund. He says he's not a target in the probe, but he can set up such a fund only if he or one of his agents are under investigation or have been charged with campaign or election violations.

Walker faces Democrat Tom Barrett in a June 5 recall. Barrett has been demanding Walker explain why he needs the fund.

Lautenschlager, a Democrat who has served as a state attorney general and a U.S. attorney, echoed Barrett Wednesday, saying Walker owes voters an explanation.

I nominate this news as laugh of the day! Peg Lautenslager (a Democrat) lost her job as AG after she cracked up a state car when she was drunk. Then it was found that she was using the state vehicle on her daily commute -- not allowed by law.

This reporter should be embarrassed to print such a transparent pre-election smear.

I didn’t see a cite as to who the “reporter” was for this article but it took them until the 5th paragraph to identify Lautenslager as a Democrat but they felt obligated to identify Walker in the first paragraph as a Republican. All I had to see was “Madison.com” when I went to the link and I knew what slant this article was going to have. Also note that under the site’s “More Top News Summaries Stories”, one is titled “Gov. Walker’s latest corruption”. Telling....

Leftist news. Nothing to see here folks. Let’s move along.

Key word is FORMER. Sorry that word doesn’t count in the game of politics.

They file a lawsuit against him to find out why he needs a legal defense fund,

You can't make this stuff up. Nobody would believe it.

Standard Dem strategy...the result of the investigation is not the goal. In the minds of the voters, they just want to establish a connection between the 2 words “Walker” and “corruption”. “A dark cloud over Scott Walker's administration” Dem talking points will ramp up.
