I just voted and saw an Interesting trend

I just got back from voting in the Texas Primary. What I saw was the place was packed. There were 50% lines for the Republican primary and 50% lines for the Dem Primary.

Guess what happened? Not a soul on the Dem Primary line. Not a soul!

And this is a traditionally Blue Dog Dem county.

I was really disappointing in how Dewhurst portrayed Cruz.
Dewhurst made me vote Cruz.

Now we will see if the dems can win solely on the support of the dead vote.

He has to get at least one vote, doesn't he?

I have a bunch of Texas dearly departed loved ones, and they'll come through for the Dems.

All cemetery votes are by definition Democratic.

I saw the ads showing that he wasn’t a conservative, so that made me look up cruz’s record.

He’s a damn sight better than Dewhurst. Solid social and fiscal conservative.

Guy in front of me was asked what party he wanted to vote in.
He said that if he has to pick one , then Republican.

Must have been a new voter if he didn’t know you have to declare party in the primary. Lots of brand new residents here.

Much more state-wide competition in the Republican primary. Most Dem seats only have one candidate running, with exceptions of some county races in Travis, Harris and Dallas counties. So most voters will be Republican.

Another weird thing is Buddy Roehmer was on the ballot but not Rick Perry.

I don’t think this is the year for gubernatorial elections.

Neutral or positive for oblablaloon... they aren’t angry enough to go vote for nobody or other against him.

No protest votes.

According to dewhurst, you’d think Cruz was selling nuclear secrets to the chinese

He worked at a law firm that employed 1200 people who took a case fora chinese business.

Horror of horrors!

“Must have been a new voter if he didn’t know you have to declare party in the primary. Lots of brand new residents here.”

Not true. In early voting, all parties vote in the same locations. Where we voted, there was one line, no matter the party. You had to tell the poll worker “Republican” or “Democrat” so that you would be given access to the proper ballot on the voting machine.

Excuse me but how can you have a 50% line for Dems but nobody in line???? That seem impossible or you can't put your sentences together where people can understand them.

Let’s hope the people you saw in the republican line were ... uh....republicans.

And I hope Texans are smart enough to not vote for the democrat in republican clothing aka RINO Romney.

If they vote Paul, at least we have a shot at a brokered convention where all the delegates are up for grabs and real conservatives can vy for the nomination.

Open primaries basically mean each party can mess with the other.

Democrats will vote for the “biggest RINO”.

I saw the same effect at my polling place during the 2010 midterm election. The line went out the door and around the building, but once I got inside, I saw that no one seemed to be voting on the Dem side of the room.

The Dem poll workers looked woebegone and sad, like they just needed a friend.

I almost felt bad for them. Almost .. LOL

Don't they have a down ticket to vote on?

The Dem poll workers looked woebegone and sad, like they just needed a friend

This depends on where you were. I spent today poll-watching in southern Dallas County (Oak Cliff sub-courthouse, not too far south of I-30), and easily 98% of the voters were D. There was never a wait in the R-line.

Highlight of the day was one D-voter exclaiming, “I don’t even know half of these names! Who am I supposed to vote for?” All I could do was shake my head and think, “and therein lies the problem. . . .”

I know you're joking, but there's a lot of truth to that.

The radicalism of Obama and Pelosi and Reid is destroying what is left of the moderate wing of the Democratic Party on the national level. Short term that may be good for Republicans. Long-term, I'm not sure having a far-left Democratic Party cut loose from its rural Southern and northern Catholic blue-collar wings is good for America.

The political debate I want to see is between conservative Republicans and populist Democrats. That's a legitimate discussion in a right-of-center country. What we're developing instead is a fight between conservatives and true socialists straight out of San Francisco.

That's a recipe for disaster.

Just because you don’t see them in line doesn’t mean their magic ballots won’t suddenly appear in a box that was “forgotten” in a back room.

Yes, and then they stamp your voter’s registration card with either Republican or Democrat to show what primary you voted in so you can’t vote again.

So you are, in effect, declaring party.

And it’s really upsetting that the Texas primary may be the one that gives Mitt the last of the votes he needs to win the nom.
