China condemns U.S. gun ownership as human rights violation
Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 5/29/12 | David Codrea

Posted on 05/29/2012 8:15:54 PM PDT by Nachum

A report issued by the State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China has included U.S. gun ownership among a list of human rights violations, Law Enforcement Examiner Jim Kouri reported yesterday. "The Human Rights Record of the United States in 2011" was published last Friday on the PRC’s Consulate General in New York website.

“The United States prioritizes the right to keep and bear arms over the protection of citizens' lives and personal security and exercises lax firearm possession control, causing rampant gun ownership,” the report claims. “The U.S. people hold between 35 percent and 50 percent of the world' s civilian-owned guns, with every 100 people having 90 guns [and] 47 percent of American adults reported that they had a gun.”

The conclusion that gun bans will result in enhanced protection of lives and personal security flies in the face of both the American and Chinese experience. Predictably, the report presents many of the same cherry-picked arguments used by “leading” U.S. and international “gun control” organizations that totally ignore the protective benefits of arms in private hands. And, as typical with advocates of a centralized monopoly of violence, Chinese-style genocide, which resulted in government-caused deaths of unknown tens of millions of defenseless human beings in the 20th Century, and the current brutal occupation and tyrannical suppression of Tibetan sovereignty, is left unacknowledged. Left unsaid is the inconvenient truth that rendering captive populations unable to resist makes such monstrous crimes against humanity not only possible, but inevitable.

Great Leap Forward

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Leap_Forward

The Great Leap ended in catastrophe, resulting in tens of millions of excess deaths.[3] Estimates of the death toll range from 18 million[4] to 45 million,[5] with estimates by demographic specialists ranging from 18 million to 32.5 million.[4] Historian Frank Dikötter asserts that “coercion, terror, and systematic violence were the very foundation of the Great Leap Forward” and it “motivated one of the most deadly mass killings of human history.”[6] In contrast, journals such as the Monthly Review have disputed the reliability of the figures commonly cited, the qualitative evidence of a “massive death toll”, and Mao’s complicity in those deaths which occurred.[7]

Cultural Revolution

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_Revolution

The Great Leap was an economic failure. Uneducated farmers attempted to produce steel on a massive scale, partially relying on backyard furnaces to achieve the production targets set by local cadres. The steel produced was low quality and largely useless. The Great Leap reduced harvest sizes and led to a decline in the production of most goods except substandard pig iron and steel. Furthermore, local authorities frequently exaggerated production numbers, hiding and intensifying the problem for several years.[2][3] In the meantime, chaos in the collectives, bad weather, and exports of food necessary to secure hard currency resulted in the Great Chinese Famine. Food was in desperate shortage, and production fell dramatically. The famine caused the deaths of millions of people, particularly in poorer inland regions.[4]

CHINA’S
BLOODY CENTURY*

Chapter 1, Introduction and Overview
By R.J. Rummel

http://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/CHINA.CHAP1.HTM

” Since 1949 the Chinese communists killed from 5,999,000 to 102,671,000 people; a prudent estimate is 35,236,000. When added to the number they murdered in previous years, the communists likely killed 38,702,000 Chinese, Tibetans, and other minorities.”

Tens of millions died under Mao because they were unarmed, not once but twice!

And I didn't want to come off as a smart ass by saying how do people die more than once. I just couldn't register that there could be another meaning to it.

Yes, that is what I thought you meant, and I took the opportunity to substantiate the bloody history of Mao and his legacy. He was bad news twice over for the Chinese people.

Most important for westerners is that the moment that shedding blood is useful to the Communist Party, they will not hesitate to shed as much proletariat blood as is necessary for the Party to remain in control.

There are way too many in the west who are ignorant of this.

So what is China’s real reason for not wanting American citizens to own firearms? None of them shoot far enough to be a threat to China, unless China is thinking about moving over here.

In any conflict between China and the US, one factor is the number of Chinese nationals in the US whose primary loyalty remains with China, and would support China, in a campaign of sabotage and terrorism.

This is much less likely to happen if doing so would result in a campaign of retaliatory attacks by the armed citizenry.

Interesting graph, shows a dropoff in gun-ownership claims roughly correlating with the 2008 election. I would imagine that’s due to gun owners lying to the survey takers ...

...every 100 people having 90 guns ...

This works out to 270 million guns (privately-owned) in the US.

I remember seeing quotes of 250 million a decade ago.

ATF background checks have been running about 10 million per year since, so I'd guess the total US private gun ownership is closer to 350 million, or about 115-120 per 100 people.

Since Bill Ayers wanted to kill 25,000,000 Americans on a much smaller population base (there are no updates since 1971, so it's open to speculation how many Americans he and Obama want to kill now), can we conclude that Ayers is a far more virulent and extreme Communist than Mao was?
