President Obama Shuns Lech Walesa
National Review ^ | June 1, 2012 | Rory Cooper

According to the Wall Street Journal, Polish officials requested that Walesa accept the Medal of Freedom on behalf of Jan Karski, a member of the Polish Underground during World War II who was being honored posthumously this week. The request makes sense. Walesa and Karski shared a burning desire to rid Poland of tyrannical subjugation. But President Obama said no.

Administration officials told the Journal that Walesa is too "political." A man who was arrested by Soviet officials for dissenting against the government for being "political" is being shunned by the United States of America for the same reason 30 years later.

Meanwhile, one of the recipients of the Medal was Dolores Huerta, the honorary chair of the Democratic Socialists of America. So socialist politics are acceptable, but not the politics of a man who stood up and fought socialism.

"Few observers are suggesting that President Obama’s written remarks noting “Polish death camps” were intentionally malicious."

Count me in as part of the few! I loudly proclaim those remarks were intentional!

We know by photographs during moments of disagreement he raises his middle finger while scratching the temple area of his head.

We know by character he enjoys underhand devious comments. (open mic caught Obama asking for "space" on missile defense issues)

We know he meant it by his actions of ignoring one the most important people in the history of Poland (Lech Walesa) And of course being challenged to have Lech to have him on stage.

and of course we know he meant it because we are told he is the most intelligent president ever

Of course he embellishes that his living abroad allows him greater culture sensitivity and understanding. suuuuuuuuure

Baloney. There are few indeed normal Americans who would agree with this rancid ostracization of Mr. Walesa, one of the great men of the 20th century.

This shunning is solely the work of the Kenyan usurper who occupies our highest office, not the United States of America.

President Reagan, Lady Thatcher, President Walesa: these names will be written and discussed for centuries.

The Kenyan usurper's name will be a lingering object of mockery and derision and shame, and maybe we can live down his election in a few short decades.

What an arrogant, myopic, pos our “President” is.

********

The Polish-American vote: Does this mean that Obama can kiss the Polish-American vote goodbye come election day Nov. 2012?

I make the statement above because Obama had already angered the Polish-American community and the people of Poland with his use of the highly emotional phrase "Polish death camps" at the recent medal ceremony at the White House.

Maybe Obama got bored giving out medals. Teh iWON can only handle so many before becoming petulant.

He thinks he should be the one receiving all the accolades. And you know I am only half joking.

Of course our Marxist commander in chief would shun freedom loving Lech
Walesa.

According to Brent Bozell on Hannity last night, the MSM has not reported Obama's gaffe about "Polish death camps." Presumably the public will never hear about Walesa being shunned.

But maybe the word will be spread among Polish-Americans.

The man has no understanding of European history. He grew up as an admirer of the Third World as presented by his dopey mother and the writings of Franz Fanon. He probably never heard of Fanon until he ran across the path of punk Bill Ayers.

I remember with swelling pride the rise to prominence of men like Lech Walesa and the Solidarity movement. It was beautifully documented in the “Man of Marble/Iron” films of Andrzej Wajda.

One of my most proud moments as a father was when I took my teenaged son to hear President Lech Walesa speak. Later we had a few words with him and shook his hand. A far greater honor for me than when I shook Jimmy Carter’s hand.

A true modern hero whom History will honor, even if Obama does not have the sense or the class to do so.

Barack Obama is unmitigated scum. If you think Yalta was bad. Watch what happens to Eastern Europe should he get re-elected.

You’ve got it. It seemed odd at first that “Polish death camps” was on the teleprompter since such speeches are so thoroughly vetted before being given and protocol people are almost always involved in that vetting. Add in the delineate snub to Walesa, and the only logical conclusion is that the phrase was deliberately placed on he teleprompter at the Illegal’s insistence.

Just finished watching my DVD “Witness to Hope” about Pope John Paul II. Blessed Pope John Paul said that it was the Holy Spirit that drew the crowds and the young people to see & hear him. The Holy Spirit worked through the Pope, the Polish people & Lech Walesa to bring down the USSR. Pray, pray, pray for our country & our children, that we maybe so blessed again in the country to have a leader who believes there is a God.
