Obama’s gay support irks Ugandans
The Observer ^ | 6/12/12 | PATIENCE AKUMU

2008 was an epic year for Africans. A black man, with African roots, won the elections in the most powerful nation in the world.

On the day Barack Obama was sworn-in, I was at a beauty shop where a crowd gathered around a 14-inch television to see their ‘brother’, icon and pride swear-in as the first US African American president. Thereafter, we walked with a sense of accomplishment. After all, Obama is not just black, his father was Kenyan.

The people of East Africa felt elevated. He is Luo, so the Luo ethnicities in East Africa declared themselves intelligent. Ugandans demonstrated their love for Obama by making chapattis (flat bread) and naming them after him. They wore Obama T-shirts, placed Obama stickers on their cars or wheelbarrows, and named their children and pets Obama.

-snip-

So when the Obama administration asked President Yoweri Museveni’s government to respect the rights of homosexual people, Ugandans murmured that the US was corrupting the African people’s sense of morality.

Obama was, presumably, a wayward son who would one day find his way back home where homosexuality is considered a perversion. But when, in May, Obama became the first American president to openly support gay marriages, the murmurs turned into fury. I watched the announcement on a plasma screen at Colline hotel in Mukono where I was attending a media workshop.

Adolf Mbaine, a media ethics lecturer at Makerere University, was livid.

“They do not support polygamy. But they want us to embrace homosexuals. Obama has betrayed Africans. He is a shame to us,” he said.

The submission to the state clause is to be gay and follow the gay official church month of June. This is completely unconstitutional and tyrannical.

But don’t they realize Obama will fight for the rights of women to wear the veil across the globe? This helps with the homo thing too; one partner can wear it.

I think gay marriage is a sin against God...However, I could care less what the Ugandan people think of us or our President (for about 5 months left).

Somebody please remind the Ugandans that Hussein does NOT speak for most Americans on this issue.

“He is Luo, so the Luo ethnicities in East Africa declared themselves intelligent.”

Anyone who would declare themselves intelligent based on someone else, especially this moron, can’t be very intelligent.

Uganda has a nasty history with this stuff, including a sodomite monarch King Mwanga II.

The great saint, Charles Lwanga, was martyred by this wicked malefactor:

Twelve Catholic boys and men and nine Anglicans were then burnt alive (another Catholic, Mbaga Tuzinde, was speared to death for refusing to renounce Christianity, and his body was thrown into the furnace to be burned along with those of Lwanga and the others[3]).

One of the reported reasons the ire of the king was particularly inflamed against the Christians was because they refused to accede to demands to participate in sexual acts with him.[4] Charles Lwanga, in particular, had protected the pages from King Mwanga's sexual advances.

“A black man, with African roots, won the elections in the most powerful nation in the world. “

No, he is at least half white and apparently a lot middle eastern.

I look forward to having the first REALLY black president someday - Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, or another similar true American patriot - someone who can indeed be a President we can all be proud of.

When posters mention Sowell and politics I refer them to his biographical Personal Odyssey where he spells out how little he cares for politics. He hasn't registered with any party or voted since 1972.

He turned down cabinet post talk in the 80s.
