Romney knew this and ran (and nominated judges) accordingly.
Something to respect? Certainly not. But the fact is that most Mormons are conservative, so there is at least some chance,that Romney,while being a very ugly, political animal, has some conservative values that he was willing to compromise for political advancement. Again, something to respect? I certainly don't. But one thing we are certain of is that Obama hates what the U.S. stands for.
Consequently I'll gladly take my chances with Romney. It's not perfect, but our 2 party system leaves us only 2 practical options. The fact is, that if you are eligible to vote and don't vote for Romney, you are doing your part to elect Obama.
Never mind that all those ages are incorrect. They’ll be those ages by the time President Romney *leaves* office.

I have been on the opposite side of this argument since day one. Now, I agree with you, not necessarily on the merits of the argument presented here but because we must not allow Obama to have a second term to continue to do wanton damage to this nation and it’s institutions.
If Romney fails to live up to constitutional standards, then we remove him in 2016. We will not reclaim the nation in one election and we must not allow our distaste of Romney to stand in the way of winning this important battle.
And may God forgive me if I am wrong.

his appointments would still set back the conservative cause for decades. How many Souters and O'Conners would he be able to seat in 4 years? In 8? The GOP has, yet again, squandered a golden opportunity to repair the damage done to this country by the Democrats.

But the usual suspects will doubtless crop up comparing Romney from everyone from Hitler to the Devil.
There will be ugly posts about his religion, people will say he’s pro-abortion when he’s not, and many lies and deep-seated and mindless hate will be revealed.

I have posited my theory that there are only 30 people on Free Republic who have a rabid hatred of Romney to the point that it has destroyed all reason.
My theory is that these people, though few in number, have created a feeling that they represent many or most of us because of their sheer persistence and multiple posts, many of which are cut and paste.
I now feel it is my duty to go through these posts and see if I can add any new names to my list, which now numbers 27.
But I don’t want to. However, I probably will and will let you know the actual number later.
