~Favorite City Songs~

Kings of Leon - Manhattan live

Well
I could dance all night
And some of the day
That's how I play
That's how I play

I say who are you
No matter who you are
So you dance all night
And you dance all day

I say
I say

Gonna build a fire
Gonna smoke it up
Gonna sip this wine
And pass the cup

These avenues and
these reseviors
We gonna show this town
How to kiss these stars

I say
I say

You've come to kill
Gonna spend it high
Your parents grieve
I know they are right

And then talking to you
Well they calm you down
So it's all for you
who let you down

I say
I say
I say
I say

Just wanna take you hand
I'm gonna drive you home
Just gonna keep on
Keep on, keep on
And you gonna have a rest

George Strait - Amarillo By Morning

"Amarillo By Morning"

Amarillo by morning, up from San Antone. Everything that I've got is just what I've got on. When that sun is high in that Texas sky I'll be bucking it to county fair. Amarillo by morning, Amarillo I'll be there.

They took my saddle in Houston, broke my leg in Santa Fe. Lost my wife and a girlfriend somewhere along the way. Well I'll be looking for eight when they pull that gate, And I'm hoping that judge ain't blind. Amarillo by morning, Amarillo's on my mind.

Amarillo by morning, up from San Antone. Everything that I've got is just what I've got on. I ain't got a dime, but what I got is mine. I ain't rich, but Lord I'm free. Amarillo by morning, Amarillo's where I'll be. Amarillo by morning, Amarillo's where I'll be.

The song was about Atlantic City, the boardwalk in Atlantic City. Everyone knew that the song referred to the Atlantic City boardwalk.

Good evening, teen...*HUGS*...are you really hot yet? Are those “things” leaving you alone? Your Marines?

One day at a time with the folks. A couple scary stretches when my Dad didn’t do anything but sleep, and he took a fall, but he’s recovered from both and even consented to, and is using, a cane.

Although it is one of the nation's largest cities, for some reason, no one has ever recorded a decent song about Los Angeles, even though two of the greatest songs with municipal themes are about suburban Pasadena, which I posted in #145. Nevertheless, there are some great songs about LA's streets, such as this one:

Sepulveda--The King's Jesters, 1946
