Video: Bus bullies apologize to victim
http://hotair.com/archives/2012/06/22/video-bus-bullies-apologize-to-victim/ ^

My friend Amy Alkon is less than impressed, as the title of her post indicates — “Little S**ts Say They’re Sorry to Bullied Bus Monitor.” It also seems a little less than sincere when the written statements transmitted to Karen Klein by the police — rather than a face-to-face apology, at least at the moment — coincide with their own complaints about suddenly becoming victims of bullying and threats themselves. The police are investigating those threats, as they should be, but it does call into question whether the apologies come from actual remorse or a sense of self-preservation. The whole Lord of the Flies vibe makes me think it’s the latter, but I certainly hope that it’s the former.

Why should they be good if there is no God?

I don’t know, kids can be pretty awful all on there own. These kids should by duly punished and I’m happy for the nice old lady getting all the money. Still, I bet so many of the people saying these kids should be tarred and feathered had some terrible moments of there own at that age and maybe aren’t so nice as adults either.
I don't know how many people were ever this bad. This was pretty bad. I never did anything remotely like this and I wasn't a particularly good kid (cut school sometimes, lied to my parents sometimes, often lazier than I should have been), but still, I can't help but basically agree with you:

Duly punish the kids, be happy for the nice old lady getting all that money, and don't draw dark conclusions about the kids' parents without knowing the individual families themselves.

> If I was that kids dad, he would be that poor women’s SLAVE right now. His summer vacation until he starts high school would officially NOT EXIST

I guess that’s the value that was instilled in me, too. I remember my cousin being conscripted to do 3 month’s worth of a neighbor’s yard work and cleanup after he knocked all the blossoms off their dogwood tree. That’s how my family rolled.

Kids learn bullying first from family, then it is reinforced by society. Kids are blank pages; bullying doesn’t come from nowhere.

That post is so full of inane myths, I don’t know where to begin.

Like kids being blank pages. Really. I don’t think you had children. My sons were never blank pages. They are human with their own intellegence, personalities and temperments.

In case you have not noticed, most parents don’t even raise their children anymore. They send them off to be raised in impersonal and unnatural herds called day care, followed by amoral, zero tolerance public schools run by Union members. So, it is not necessiarly true that kids learn much at all from their parents.

Then there is the society they live in where the hottest thing is a slut grinding a gangsta raper and children are sexualized as early as liberals can get away with. In their schools they are taught that their parents are stupid and hateful for having ‘judgemental’ morals and standards.

“That post is so full of inane myths, I don’t know where to begin.”

I thought it was trenchant and accurate.

“In case you have not noticed, most parents don’t even raise their children anymore.”

I think everyone knows that. That makes the bus behavior the parents’ fault.

“In their schools they are taught that their parents are stupid and hateful for having ‘judgemental’ morals and standards.”

Again, if this is what your kids are being taught, it’s your fault. Home school them. Give up cell phones and pay for Catholic school. Whatever it takes.

Kids ARE born blank slates — they’ve got no language, morals or culture except what they LEARN. If your kid’s a bully, it’s your fault. If you don’t know whether he’s a bully, it’s still your fault.

My husband said if that were our son, he’d be in a year-round military school for the next four years — in Alaska!!

“Wouldn’t attend my high school reunion if they paid me $$$$.”

I’ll second that!! Have never been to a high school class reunion and never will! My high school was dog-eat-dog with overt bullying, nasty cliques, taunting, etc. Hated it. Walked out graduation day (which I did not want to attend) and never looked back — 35 years ago.

I think the contempt for an older woman who’s over wieght comes from liberal elites who think the only things that matter are being thin and young.

Liberal elites put out the stuff these kids used... I doubt they got it from their father. If the kids were 8 or 9 then, yeah. But teens? They got it from our sick culture.

I’m just a cynical old fart

I must be a tad more cynical than you as I can ‘see’ a spate of these incidents, well rehearsed and well photographed with an instant ‘fund’ page going up to be shared by all the participants.
Of course, my FURTHER cynicism senses that this lady will never collect anywhere near 1/2 mill but most certainly, the future funding will NOT happen, unless, of course, the govt and lawyers step in and lawsuits will abound.
Anyhoo, it appears a new ‘cottage industry’ of sucking the public dry will pop up.

Jemian: YOu should have gone and showed that you were still here, successful, and untouched by any of their machinations.

I’m going to my 50th high school reunion this fall and I’m happy to say that my school, one of the oldest high schools existent in America, NEVER put up with that kind of crap. The principal was a strong, old school kind of guy but one of our Vice Principals could scare the crap out of you if you pissed him off. Very few kids ever did that. Even the characters behaved. I’ll be glad to see my old friends because they were friends, and we took care of each other.

Nobody is born a blank slate. Blank in the sense that a day old baby doesn’t have a complex language? Sure. But the instincts for cruelty just for the sake of cruelty are all there. They are there before we are even born.

My father-in-law was a school bus driver and had a student threatening to kill him . The student was removed from the bus permanently . It hard to put the sole blame on parents alone anymore since the govt. has outlawed some of the discipline methods of the past . My wife once slapped our 13 yr. old sons hand and he told his guidance councilor at school and we were investigated by a county atty. for child abuse without knowing it . Children have become a rare protected species and parents have their hands tied when dealing with their children when they cross the line . The govt. now is raising these kids and just like everything the govt. does ,,, it’s a half @$$ job at best . Councilors tell the kids ,, come to us with your family problems . One school I know of has an assignment that requires the student to tell the teacher a family secret , how bazaar is that ???

The "terrible twos" attest to kids being awful on their own. But, "evil" isn't usually what one says about children. Of course there are exceptions.

Generally speaking children ARE blank pages in that they have to be TAUGHT morals, laws, rules and ethics, right from wrong...God. That's what parents and family are for before children go to school.

Have to disagree with that a little. Cruelty is in our DNA. They don’t have to learn to be cruel from anyone else. I think children are even more susceptible to giving in to cruelty because they haven’t had as much time to learn the difference between right and wrong as adults have. If I was this woman, I would watch myself around these kids, because they might try to get some revenge.

Cruelty is in our DNA? Hmmm,I SO disagree with that.
Cruelty is SUCH an adult thing. Children are selfish little things, but cruel? Nope, don't buy it. Children are taught cruelty at a very, very early age. Sometimes big brother/sister teaches them; sometimes parents.
