My friend Amy Alkon is less than impressed, as the title of her post indicates — “Little S**ts Say They’re Sorry to Bullied Bus Monitor.” It also seems a little less than sincere when the written statements transmitted to Karen Klein by the police — rather than a face-to-face apology, at least at the moment — coincide with their own complaints about suddenly becoming victims of bullying and threats themselves. The police are investigating those threats, as they should be, but it does call into question whether the apologies come from actual remorse or a sense of self-preservation. The whole Lord of the Flies vibe makes me think it’s the latter, but I certainly hope that it’s the former.
Your forgiveness of your tormentors, dead and alive, is a HUGE heavenly treasure that you have stored up. God will bless you for that.
That is how guys handle it. I sometimes wish that us gals did that. Life might have been a lot simpler.
You spoke the language of the bully back to him. It's what he was taught to understand. It's not a bad thing that you waited until you were 15 years old...you had some muscle at 15...hurt him as you might not have done at 6. :o)

The old saying, "One is never too rich or too thin" transcends liberals/elites, political party and any sort of grouping. It's a cynical statement based entirely on a FAITHLESS philosophy of life.
Obesity is the ONE sin that people "wear" for the world to see. It can't be hidden and thus it's SOO public. I feel sorry for fatsos just for that reason.
It doesn't help that our cultural "heroes" are the thin and the rich, does it?
Spot On! Too many parent's try to be their children's friends first, rather than their PARENTS and making the hard decisions.
My own learned very early on that I'm their FATHER first and it's my job to instill in them a set of morals and values, guide them in developing them into men of character and integrity, and make the tough decisions FOR THEM until they reach an age of reason and accountability for themselves.
Yep, that sure does mean at times Dad was a hardass about some things. While they haven't thanked me for ALL those times yet, they've sure thanked me for some of them. I'm darn proud of my two sons, if they EVER did something like this bullying incident they'd know exactly how Dad would react - and it sure wouldn't be to defend them.
I guarantee you those kids still think it’s funny. They posted the video online because they thought it was a laugh riot.
I want to see them lined up and spanked with a board with holes drilled in it. That’s what they did to middle school kids who acted like animals when I was in middle school.
After that, then hopefully they will fully understand that acting like an animal in society gets you treated like an animal and they will repent of their animalistic behavior.

That’s funny I was the class of ‘77, too. Reunion would be this year. BAH! If it hadn’t been for kids at church and my boyfriend (now husband) I think I would have given up.
Must have been bad high school years all around. I loved college, though.
Children are cruel from birth. I guess it is an early age that they learn...like two seconds after they pop out.

Great point. Methods of the past are largely regarded as child abuse these days. I was always deterred from bad behavior because I didn’t want any punishment.
And as you said, coupled with government interference, I’m afraid we are in for a bumpy ride with our youth.
