First, an apology for the millionth vanity here...
It has become clear to me that what Justice Roberts has done is so shameful and such an outright trampling on our constitution and theft of our liberty that he should be impeached and be removed from office. In an otherwise sane world where this document still meant something, he would be impeached and if the Republicans have any spine they'd do it. This, "cut off your nose to spite your face" wizardy (that is, trample the constitution in order to save the reputation of the court) is the last straw in what has been an enduring attack on our freedom. Enough; draw the damn line here and now.
If the opinions of Justices Scalia, Thomas, Alito and even Kennedy could not sway Justice Roberts in a case which has such tremendous implications for our country; then, there is clearly no hope for the man; he cannot be reformed and he must go.
Don’t just single out Roberts. There were 5 bad judgements.
Don’t just single out Roberts. There were 5 bad judgements.
It’s important to note that when the Constitution was written, a politician’s job was considered a duty rather than an entitlement. The Congress would not by itself have any authority to punish people for things, but replacing someone who fails to perform his duties with someone who will perform them faithfully is not a punishment. Indeed, I’m somewhat uncomfortable with this “contempt of Congress” business. What Congress should be doing is demanding that Holder either demonstrate that he is faithfully executing the duties of his office, or resign so the position can be filled by someone who will. If Holder persistently refuses to do either of those things, Congress should impeach.
Gonna have to hold our breath, vote does our feckless leaders and hope they will remove this travesty by its roots.
Wish in one hand.....
If it can be shown that he was bribed or threatened, that would be impeachable. Or if it can be proven that his seizure condition and medication has impaired his judgment and therefore making him unfit for duty, he could be removed. I don’t think that would take impeachment, just him stepping down under pressure. But all of this is a heavy burden of proof which I don’t think can be met.
My, aren’t you the arrogant newbie? There aren’t any damn silver linings in this thing. Smart people understand that.
It's time for a revolution, and by that I mean it's time we stop obeying the Federal government on such ridiculous issues, and forcing a confrontation with them. It's up to them how far they want to take it. Voting will get us no where when it comes to federal elections. Voting for people who are willing to confront the federal government in state elections are the only thing that matters. Our federal government must be destructed and rebuilt, because it's past the point of being fixed. We can accept living under tyranny, or we can accept doing what must be done to save our nation. Our constitution means nothing, our courts rule on personal political opinion, and even the best of our leaders can't stop this tyranny. We aren't sure we can even defeat Obamacare, and we were in serious trouble before this was even an issue.
Roberts should be impeached and removed from office for incompetence and sophistry unbefitting of a SC justice. Obama and Holder should be impeached as well. We all know the dems will prevent anyone from being removed from office. But what is the harm in having hearings and exposing this crap to the masses?
I never understood all the excitement over Roberts when he was nominated anyway. Sam Alito is my favorite justice by far and should have been given the head position of the court as he always follows the Constitution to the letter.
My theory is that Roberts was blackmailed or threatened and threw the left a curve. He acted like a hostage who is made to say how much he hates his country but loves his captors, so the hostage sends a hidden message to let us know that he is saying these things under duress.
To continue my theory, Roberts was threatened to go along with Obama and the left and vote to uphold Obamacare. He did, but to screw them over, he didn’t vote for the Commerce Clause provision, but instead called it constitutional because it was a tax, thereby giving us a gift. Now Romney can use this as a campaign issue to say that Obama and the Democrats gave us the biggest tax hike in the history of the world. They didn’t want this in an election year. Look how Ruth Buzzi Ginsburg reacted to his ruling. She actually wrote a dissent for the Majority! Now I’m not a lawyer, but I know that that is an unusual happening in court proceedings.
I believe that this was Roberts saying to Obama and his band of merry men, OK, you will get your precious health care law upheld, but it will be on my terms.
It is the only rational thing I can think of for this irrational act. Either that, or he’s nuts!
Either way, doing something so destructive purely to generate backlash is stupid.
That good occasionally can come from evil in no way justifies evil. If the senate changes hands Roberts should be impeached for moral cowardice. Even if you have to spell it "jaywalking".
Hey, what about the other 4? If it wasn’t for Roberts, we wouldn’t have our 2nd Amendment.
If so it should be brought to the public. If he was literally blackmailed for something, and decided he would make a nation destroying decision against our constitution to protect himself then it should be brought to the surface. Whatever it takes to bring out anything that played an influence on his decision should be made public. Regardless of why he made this unconstitutional decision he should be ruined for his unconstitutional act.
Not while Obama is in the White House
They might say that, but they would be wrong. If the obscene excesses of FDR corruption only led to more re-elections and more corruption, why think this cynical piece of crap will suddenly turn 70 million grasshoppers into worker ants?
So far even the presidency is still a toss up. Remember Carville's book in 2008? gloating about "40 years" of democrat dominance? That lasted all of two years.
Bear in mind--the huge majority of voters have no idea what all the fuss is about, and don't care.
Cannot be by the Court. And the lack of any intelligence on the conservative GOP side makes it impossible to do a damn thing. We are toast on this criminal inspired health care which includes unlimited corruption that has nothing to do with health care. Only overturning would be to win the Senate and Presidency keep the House and kick the bill in the ass.
Everyone of them who violated the constitution for the sake of their sick toltaltarian politics in this Obamacare case, should be impeached. But that is not going to happen.
Yeah, let’s impeach him. Better yet let’s make sure it’s before the election. That way Obama can nominate someone and we can replace someone who rules with Scalia 90% of the time with a new judge like Kagan or Sontomoyer.
