Santorum to social conservatives: Romney's message is 'right on'
CNN ^ | June 16, 2012 | Gregory Wallace and Martina Stewart

Former GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum gave a signal to social conservatives on Saturday: Mitt Romney's "message is sound. It's solid."

On Saturday, Santorum's praise was warm.

"The concern I had - I did, I was very frank about it - was that Governor Romney would track to the middle as so many Republican candidates have done, but I'm not seeing that," Santorum said. "I'm seeing him stand by those convictions that he articulated in the primaries and I'm hopeful."

So we can look forward to Romney appointing someone like Roberts?

Doesn’t really get me all that excited, to be honest.

Although, even another Roberts would be preferable to another Kagan or Sotomayor. At least Roberts does the right thing 90%+ of the time instead of 0% of the time.

Not enough people think like you to even fill a baseball stadium.

You are delusional.

The choice is Romney, or you are helping Obama.

Well Reagan appointed Sandra Day OConnor.

Lawyers lie.

And I have to say, most of the Freepers who keep promoting Obama (By bashing Romney) don't even look as smart as the Paul-bots!

And Romney Republicans can't figure out why conservative folks don't like them very much.

If the elites have decided then how will a unnamed Constitution party member win?

And “pretend-conservatives” are viciously critical of the GOP nominee, while never having a bad word to say about Obama.

One big problem in America is that some people define "conservative" in terms of positive support for a absurdly, outrageously, appallingly liberal nominee. The truth speaks for itself. It does not need our votes.

There is no difference between Obama and Romney. They are identical politically and in their real attitudes towards this country.

You people are throwing away your votes with Romney.

Rotten stiff bodies loaded up like chord wood into the chopper to be delivered to the landfill would turn my stomach for a while.

This crap? Not so much, not any more.

As a true conservative™ do you share the political philosophy of any of these folks:

Sarah Palin
Michelle Bachman
Herman Caine
RUSH
Newt
Dick Cheney
Rick Santorum
Rick Perry
Geroge W Bush

Obama might get us into a nuclear war, the guy is in way over his head.

Obama will definitely crash this country, financially.

We can not survive 4 more years of Obama.

You have been a 3rd Party type for years, do you really WANT to have “Mad Max and Thunder-dome” -— an Apocalypse, in our lifetimes?

It is irresponsible for any true Conservative to be taking shots at Romney, at this time.

Romney was not my least favorite candidate. Ron Paul was my least favorite candidate. Romney came in second for that honor.

However? The responsible and mature thing to do, now, is to support Romney.

None of the other issues matter if Obama destroys our country.

Thank you for posting this thread and for doing battle with the FR He-Man Mitt Haters Club.

I am grateful whenever anyone posts sane political analysis here these days because I know that during major elections many new people wind up surfing Free Republic for the first time.

It would be a shame if this year they were all dissuaded from sticking around by the ugly, dishonest antics of the extreme anti-Romney fringe.

It helps that when Barack goes into one of his “LOOK! VICIOUS CONSERVATIVE!” attacks on Mitt, inevitably Barack dips about a light year into the hyperbole if not getting basic facts wrong, and has to eat his excessive words later. Mitt comes out of such an episode looking not only reasonable but quasi-conservative; Barack looks like an extreme-left nut.

“Look, I just can’t vote for a man who would say this. You and the GOP-e should have picked a better man...”
____________________________________________

Excuse me? “You and the GOP-e”? Donna, have you ever heard of a primary? This is where individual states (read: voters) select the presidential nominee. While you may think this flawed logic helps make your argument, it really doesn't. GOP voters selected Romney whether you and i like it or not.

Like many here, Romney was not my first choice; Palin, Cain, and Newt were at the top of my list. One decided not to run, and the other two dropped out. This meant that Romney was the GOP nominee. You are acting like a spoiled little brat who didn't get their way; now you want to take your marbles and go home. Considering the damage wrought on our nation by this Marxist, you are making a supremely selfish decision.

Those of us whom you ridicule are doing are dealing with reality. As Rush likes to say, we live in "Realville." Sorry, but you folks who foolishly equate Romney to Obama sound like unhinged DUmmies. You've seen what Obama's done, and yet you have more contempt and outrage for Romney. This is beyond nutty! Consider the following and ask yourself if Obama believes the same, and would help in bringing them to fruition: 1) Restoring our relationships with our greatest Allies: Israel & Great Britain 2) Allow oil exploration and drilling (namely the Keystone Pipeline) 3) Cut taxes (Personal & capital Gains) 4) Hold our military men and women in high regard Obama is against all of these. Romney is for all of these. I could go on, but you get the point.

We had several conservative candidates during the primary, Saintorum wasn’t one of them.

You know, I liked Cain and then Gingrich during the primaries, but I think they both turned out to be terrible candidates.

Which two candidates (that actually declared and campaigned this cycle) do you now think are genuine conservatives and would be good solid candidates to have going forward right now?

I can't name one.

The choice is Romney or Obama.

No. Romney is on the side of Obama. His plan is to lie during campaigning and if he becomes the president to increase the debt by $3T and appoint radical leftists as SC judges. He also plans to lie that he will repeal Obamacare and if he becomes POTUS, he plans to renege on that promise and give excuses. Sorry, I cannot support the crook.

You can make up any fantasy you want about why I have to vote for Mitt. It doesn’t matter, I’m not going to do it.

I will never vote for the man who said (and you shouldn’t either):

“...gay couples raising kids. That’s the American way...”
