You could be right fish. Like I said its hard to get into anyone's head.

I just watched Paul Ryan save the day for all of us vis a vi obamcare. Going up against stuffy stephy who was laid back today since his side thinks they have now won the day with obamcare Ryan was brilliant.

In essence he gave a choice to viewers of either let government tell you what to do or trust the judgement of Free Enterprise. Ryan said that Roberts had now raised the stakes more than ever imaginable in Nov. He's right.

If Mitch McConnell can’t express ideas about better reform, then better just wrap it up. It was disappointing to see him trotting out the old talking points and expressing them unemotionally to Chris Wallace.

I agree that he was ineffective at getting the message out but completely agree with him. I want to see nothing more than he mentioned:

1. All states should have a High Risk Pool.
2. Tort reform.
3. You should be able to buy coverage from a carrier in any state.

He should have mentioned the current success of Health Savings Accounts, and the additional reform of Association Health Plans.

AHPs would allow any association to offer group insurance using a preferred carrier from any of the other states. That would be the same advantage now enjoyed by large multi-state businesses and labor unions.

I don't want any more meddling at the federal level. Do you?

[Hmmm.... this ruling may turn out to be Obama's 'read my lips, no new taxes' albatross.]

That only works for Republican office holders, with the media leading the charge.

For dems, no one in their party cares, and media buries it.

Ryan and Boehner for that matter over on cbs one-upped the left by saying yes we are for many of the good things in obamcare, kids being on their parents insurance, etc. etc. we just don’t want a 2,700 page pos that controls 1/6 of the economy attached to those. NO one on the left can refute that logic. Not even the slickest of slick Chief of staff Lew who was really slick and I guarantee we will be seeing more of him. This guy lies so smoothly you can’t even see his nose grow.

As Britt Hume said on FNS, they are trying as hard as they can to keep from calling Obamacare a 'tax'; they are running from that.

Agreed, TomGuy. What I find disheartening in watching these political shows is the lack of knowledge and/or the inability to communicate the impact of the politics or communicate Conservative principles depending on the guest.

Most of these people are so focussed on the impact on the politicians, the issue is rarely dealt with.

Artur Davis was one of the few this morning worth listening to....and he was a former Democrat.

There are 60 million on Medicaid counting the CHIPS program. Obamacare will add 18 million more.

Pelosi and Jindal on the same show, but of course they have him debating Dean. I’ve never seen Pelosi debate anyone on these shows. Maybe because someone like Jindal would cause her to melt down on national TV?

It’s not that you were wrong in your analysis of what might well be the eventual result of the Roberts’ action.

It’s just trying to read Roberts’ mind is what the political chattering classes are doing. And in the attempt to step up to the editorial podium to sound all wise and insightful....well hey, RG, I write fiction too. You just dream it up in YOUR head and attribute it to a character, in this case Chief Justice Roberts.

I swear I’m right, I swear I’m right. Roberts did not want to take a stand, he did not want the court to take a stand.

He did not do his job, which was to take the law, AS WRITTEN, and rule if it’s in keeping with the constitution.

COME ON GUYS! Why couldn’t he just do his damn job?

Now we look at a Supreme court with jaundiced eyes. Cause we can’t get rid of them.

Let me end by saying it again, maybe Roberts is reading this thread:

YOUR JOB IS TAKE LEGISLATION AS APPEALED AND DETERMINE IF IT MATCHED OUR CONSTITUTION AS WRITTEN AND AMMENDED.

Sheesh, it ain’t even rocket science....we do this sort of stuff all the time out here in la-la land.

“Hey Joe, I’m working on drafting a law that has a penalty for people who don’t get rain gutters on their houses. Does this match the contract with the community organization?”

“Well Bob, maybe you should call it an extra monthly assessment for those without suitable rain gutters. The contract calls for proper rain gutters on all homes in the community. The contract also allows a special assessment for those not in compliance with the bylaws.”

“So I shouldn’t call it a penalty but an extra assessment?”

“Yeah Bob. Cause if the homeowners appeal it to me I’m going to have to strike it down cause the contract does not call for “penalties”.

Like that.

All the time we do this stuff out here in la-la land where we carry this country on our backs.

Yet this past year we’ve spent millions of dollars, couldv’e bought many homes for non-working liberals, waiting for those prima donnas on the Supreme court to come with a ruling when go on, he could have just done his job.

You’re right.

I argue Pelosi’s not a dingbat either. Though I understand Palin’s larger point, I really do.

But Pelosi’s more a person who’s had everything she’s wanted in life and did whatever it took to continue towards that end. This includes using huge airplanes to fly her family and friends back and forth to DC.

Pelosi doesn’t have a moral one in her pathetic body.

I can recall vividly what Obama said right after the SCOTUS hearing on Merdicare in April, i.e., “Ultimately, I’m confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.”

At the time, many in the press didn't include the word "ultimately." I noted at the time that this indicated to me that he knew the decision of the court and was trying to undo it thru this pressure or perhaps blackmail. There are indications that Roberts changed his mind at the last minute.

This is truly frightening if the WH using whatever means can intimidate SCOTUS. Roberts had to manufacture a reason to uphold Obamacare. It was painfully obvious. The real question is why as you point out.

As Mark Levin points out, Roberts became a judicial activist with this decision. He created a precedent that the taxing power of the government can force people to buy something they don't want and it applies to every person in this country--except illegal aliens and some other excepted classes, which makes it difficult to defend as a tax.

I agree that he was ineffective at getting the message out...

Agree 100%. He did, maybe, 40% of what he should have done.

And that's why we can't let him lead the Senate when we take it back in Nov.

Actually, over the past week I just finished reading reams and reams of conjecture some probably true some probably not about who Roberts and the people who put him in power really are. My comments stem from a lot of the research I did.To me they seemed logical.

It's rather obvious he ducked the issue of "was the mandate legal/constitutional or not" by declaring it a tax. The question remains why.

I just watched Paul Ryan save the day for all of us vis a vi obamacare

I think Ryan is the one to explain the details of Obamacare. The whole bill is an impossible fairy tale and Rube Goldberg idea.

The idea that you can add 32 million people to medicaire and not reduced quality is a fairy tale. You will never see a doctor unless you are on the operating table.

The idea that the middle class can get all these new goodies and the rich will pay for them is a fairy tale. Nobody gets "free" socialized medicine in Europe.

The dims have been very crafty in this battle. ACA is all about getting socialized medicine camel nose in the tent because there is no way this policy can work budgetarily. They have co-opted industry and created a health care Potemkin village. We need to get the facts out ASAP so voters will know how destructive this bill is.

Exactly and when everyone learns that there are plans to hire over 10k irs agents to monitor compliance, what else do you think they will be monitoring? This is just a big govt. takeover of private enterprise by slick commies in control.

Just read an an American Thinker article poster on FR regarding Roberts.

My take after reading this article is that Mittens, the two Bushes, Clinton and Barak are all from the same family. Today it is Barak’s turn to run the show and appoint people to support his point of view. The bureaucracy, just like the apparatchiks in any Communist/Fascist country are all the same. They wish to push their view on the rest of us.

We will see in November who the people have elected. We will see in February if it has made any difference.
