Morris: Civilian gun ban to be signed July 27
Fox News Channel (no link) | 7/5/12

Posted on 07/05/2012 5:46:45 AM PDT by pabianice

Dick Morris now on Fox. Morris says the UN Gun Ban Treaty is scheduled to be signed by Obama's U.S. ambassador to the UN on July 27. According to Morris, treaty will be rammed through by the lame duck Senate after the November election if the Democrats are still in charge. A treaty, of course, supercedes the U.S. Constitution. Interesting months ahead.

No one wants to hear that. They don't want to admit that it doesn’t matter what the Constitution says anymore. But, but, but two thirds present means 67, except it doesn’t.

We send armed swat teams to enforce stupid EPA violations, and we haven't marched in the streets yet, and when they come for your neighbor most will say nothing.

Morris is smoking the wacky weed again if he thinks some international group will trump our Constitution. Liberals are tying to get us to react with violence so they can stomp on us... and that ain’t gonna happen.

The Constitution also says that someone can be impeached upon a 2/3 vote of the members present.

Since impeachment is really a trial, pretty hard to sneak one by the membership, who are the jury.

Consider the plausibility of this scenario:

I've considered it. It is 100% implausible and absurd.

“most will say nothing. “

Hell, most will go way beyond that! They’ll ay it is “our duty as citizens to listen to the government.” They’ll beg everyone not to upset “the government”.

The operative word here is “present.” The Vice President, as President of the Senate, can and probably will call a special session of the Senate consisting of himself, Chucky Shumer, Diane Feinstein and any other anti-gun members to vote on this treaty.

They would still need a quorum, which would have to include, at a minimum, nine senators who are already on the public record in opposition. Preventing the rest of the Senate from attending would be quite a trick, too. And the VP, of course, would have no vote.

One of my favorite movies probably the only really good movie he made. Quigley Down Under also one that I can watch again several times. Of course being old has its benefits, they are not reruns if you don’t remember them. :)

And we have enabled it by not immediately initiating impeachment.

Hey now, you can't ask those guys to give up their holiday, just for a little matter like this.</sarcasm>

They would still need a quorum,

Why would you think that?

Tyrants don’t play by the rules, we better wake up to that fact.

The House and Senate both passed the ACA act and not one of the members had ever read it, in fact I doubt they have yet. I read on Drudge this morning that something like 17,000 pages of new tax laws concerning the ACA have been written by government lawyers, do you think anyone would vote for something like that. Oh wait, they already did.

GonzoGop Stated:

If they come to your door that means they know where you live. You are surrounded, outnumbered, likely outgunned and your family is in the line of fire. So you give them that old .22 target rifle with the broken spring. Then carefully note what organization they are from and where it is located.

Offices and vehicles of organizations like that have a tendency to catch fire. Apparently they tend to be very careless with matches. With all those confiscated weapons and all that seized ammo stored there these tragic accidents are far too common. Weird how that works.

MY COMMENT: AMEN brother!!! We need to publish the location and address of these organizations.

It is also time to publish the locations of all the mosques again.

Tyrants don’t play by the rules, we better wake up to that fact.

Sure. But the hypothetical was about holding a vote. Tyrants don't hold votes at all.

The House and Senate both passed the ACA act and not one of the members had ever read it, in fact I doubt they have yet.

No, but they did show up to vote.

I read on Drudge this morning that something like 17,000 pages of new tax laws concerning the ACA have been written by government lawyers, do you think anyone would vote for something like that. Oh wait, they already did.

Congress outsourcing its responsibilities to unaccountable bureaucrats who write tens of thousands of pages of implementing regulations that carry the force of law is not unique to PPACA, not new to this generation, and not exclusive to Democrat-passed laws. It's a problem (a big one) but it also has nothing to do with the idea that somehow five people could ratify a treaty. That can't and won't happen (obviously.)

They would still need a quorum,

Not sure that's true, IIRC, Madison explained the clause as enabling secret treaties in Federalist No. 64.

Those matters which in negotiations usually require the most secrecy and the most despatch, are those preparatory and auxiliary measures which are not otherwise important in a national view, than as they tend to facilitate the attainment of the objects of the negotiation. For these, the President will find no difficulty to provide; and should any circumstance occur which requires the advice and consent of the Senate, he may at any time convene them. Thus we see that the Constitution provides that our negotiations for treaties shall have every advantage which can be derived from talents, information, integrity, and deliberate investigations, on the one hand, and from secrecy and despatch on the other.

They would still need a quorum. Nothing in that paper says otherwise, and it wouldn’t over-rule the Constitution even if it did.

Then it’s all hands on deck for the GOP. If they’re gone for a “potty break” during the vote, there will be hell to pay.

The 2/3 requirement is for the vote, not those present during the trial.
