Farmers trying to stop flood of regulation

... Not all guidance is helpful or benevolent. That is particularly true if the guidance is coming from a government regulatory agency. Take, for example, the Environmental Protection Agency’s effort to expand its regulatory reach under the Clean Water Act to nearly every drop of water, and some dry land, too.

Through what’s officially known as a “guidance document,” EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers are seeking to remove the word “navigable” from the Clean Water Act. That action would allow them to regulate even a roadside ditch that holds water for only a few hours after a big rain. Both agencies have been upfront about their intent to use the guidance process to increase their regulation of water bodies and lands that have been under the states’ regulatory authority.

The lawmakers who wrote the Clean Water Act never intended for the federal government to have the kind of control it is seeking over local bodies of water. Similarly, in two rulings, the Supreme Court affirmed important limitations of the federal government’s jurisdiction under the Clean Water Act.

Having to get another permit doesn’t sound like that big of a deal, but at $30,000 to well over $100,000 for some permits, these requirements sometimes force growers to avoid farming otherwise productive acreage just so they don’t trigger federal permit and extremely costly mitigation requirements. But in most parts of the country, it would be just about impossible to farm around every wet spot that EPA and the Corps want to regulate.

The EPA is the very essence of Tyranny created for the sole purpose of destroying private property rights. Just as the Department of Education is aimed at destroying true literacy and critical thinking and the Commerce Department is deliberately putting us at a global disadvantage in trade. This is all by careful design. The Marxists have infiltrated every level of our society.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydraulic_empire

A hydraulic empire (also known as a hydraulic despotism, or water monopoly empire) is a social or government structure which maintains power and control through exclusive control over access to water. It arises through the need for flood control and irrigation, which requires central coordination and a specialized bureaucracy.

Often associated with these terms and concepts is the notion of a water dynasty. This body is a political structure which is commonly characterized by a system of hierarchy and control often based around class or caste. Power, both over resources (food, water, energy) and a means of enforcement such as the military are vital for the maintenance of control.

Prepare to pay more for your food.

Also, I see a new legal specialty in the future: Farm Law.

First they will remove the word "navigable". Next they will specify a volume, such as any amount more than 20 gallons. In addition to personal wells: rain barrels...swimming pools...ponds...cisterns...livestock troughs...even hot water heaters and water tanks for recreational vehicles.
In short, they will attempt to control your ability to have any "stockpile" of water for personal, emergency or SHTF use.

Prepare to pay for more food? Nah, prepare to eat whatever they hell the government gives you to eat.

Just like obamacare, this is all part of a complete takeover of this country. The government will have us all living in FEMA camps, sharing food equally, or living off the grid on our own. Either way, we’ll all be on communes.

The EPA is more dangerous than pollution. Fight it.

Cronie capitalism, only Sarah Palin seems to be opposed to it. The rest of our elected officials seem to think it is business as usual.

The objective here is to destroy farm productivity and human footprint on open land.

This is another tool in Obama’s quest to destroy America and it’s productivity and economy.

The anti-people folks at EPA are only too happy to expand their empire and power.

Uuumm no. The real behind the reason is post #8,9,10 and 12. It has always been this way just more open today.

Been fighting this battle on the farm for 8 years now and it’s getting worse. Guess what though? This will soon affect you California city dwellers. Rain water runoff has been declared a pollutant. So either prevent runoff from your homes, businesses, and cities or face a big fine (tax).

“This is all about the large corporate wanting to get rid of their competition..the smaller family farms.”

Large corporate farms can hire the staff for regulatory compliance. It’s the government and their environmentalist allies forcing the smaller family farmer out of business. But even the large farms can’t meet the compliance protocol set out by the Water Quality Control Board. Hope you enjoy your Mexican and Chinese veggies.

Nah, Marxist agenda destroys the economy first, then uses famine to reduce population and enslave the remaining sheep.
