New TSA Rules: Passengers Must 'Freeze on Command'?
Gather.com ^ | July 7, 2012 | Jim Kane

According to possible new TSA rules, air travelers may be compelled to "freeze" when ordered to by screeners.

The federal safety agency has yet to comment on this policy, but an airline passenger claimed agents recently practiced a drill on his wife.

"We heard a "freeze, freeze" or something like this coming from the output side of security (where my wife was), followed by further barking of commands," the man said.

"It turns out they were doing a new drill. They want all passengers to freeze on command. My wife told me later that she didn't follow this order fast enough, so the subsequent barks I heard were directed at her," he added.

Now, this anecdote has not been confirmed by the safety agency, so it should remain in the rumor zone at this point. But, considering all the crazy TSA rules, would anyone be surprised if it were true?

Could you have imagined, a decade ago, that you would be forced to submit to naked imaging just to get on an airplane? Or that young children would be groped by strangers in uniforms?

There is no compelling evidence these absurd TSA rules do anything to thwart terrorism. Just recently, the agency announced that screeners now have the right to test beverages purchased by travelers, even after the people have gone through security. How much more of this can people take?

Living in Las Vegas, married to a pilot, with frequent flying, we’ve never had a problem at our airport. I think they want the tourists to come back and don’t want to pi$$ them off. Just sayin’. TSA here are some of the most professional and polite I’ve encountered. I could tell you about some other cities, but bad experiences tend to go into my “denial vault.”

I don’t have to fly for business and I stopped flying for pleasure. If I’m seeing someone off and one of these idiots shouts “Freeze!” at me, I plan to to reply, “Go to hell. You work for me.” Or something similar.

In 2012 America, if Orwell’s Thought Police burst in on `Winston and Julia’ a more likely outcome would be Thought Police being shotgunned back out of the same windows and doors they entered.

We’re Americans and we’re not putting up with this fascist, jackboot s***.

How funny it would be if they armed all TSA workers.

I like the fact that folks continue thinking the HSA purchased 450 million rounds. It may scare some enough to get them off their rumps.

At least half of the tsa people I’ve seen in airports have misshapen heads. Look next time they get close to you.

My spouse has Parkinson’s. She couldn’t freeze if her life depended on it. Speaking of life, she also has pacemakers like devices that are wired into her brain. Tazer here in the chest and you’ve got her dead body on your hands...

And then comes a random bunch of dead TSA agents.

Reminiscent of this scene, from Episode 1 of The Prisoner. (Patrick McGoohan version.)

I am a platinum flyer and fly a lot and in the last 11 years have had one rude screener and it was minor. TSA hasnt done one inappropriate thing to me or anyone I know.

Anyone is free not to fly but this is alot of sound and fury over a piddling thing in my opinion.

Then you’ve been blessed. It gets tiring being pulled out for special screening and groped because you’re traveling with your obvious pilot (in uniform) husband because your ticket is one way to the next place he’s flying out of. I live on the West Coast. My son is getting married next June on the East Coast. I’m driving.

That may be so - my employer has eliminated almost all travel to save money. With GotoMeeting and other webinar appications, I haven’t missed it at all. But, for those who must travel, why don’t the Employers raise a bigger stink instead of going along like sheep???? Do you think this is going on anywhere else in the world but America (groping and scanning)?

Where’s Rand Paul on this? He gets groped and raises a stink - and then nothing? Crickets chirping. When something makes no sense, other than some jerkoff Chertoffs making money on these scanners, then you know the fix is in. If they can get freedom-loving Americans to bend over and take it, then how soon for full-on cavity searches? Maybe Judge Roberts will find this unreasonable search of 99.999% of travelers unconstitutional just to find one needle in the haystack ......

90%? Try 99.99% or better.

It is long past time for this insanity to end.
