I wish those of intellectual inferiority (politicians) would just leave science out of their thoughts (as meager as they are).

If this idiotic council wants to be “green”, they can call on the Cretin-in-Chief to eliminate just one of his non-required AF-1 jaunts. That would save more fuel, eliminate more CO2, and help the earth more than all of their cretinistic silly “green” decisions. Or...they could just commit suicide and help the earth and raise composite IQ.

Please, please, meteor...just take out these folks and give us some room to live happy lives.

I do believe that I saw another story on this that stated that Apple announced that they would no longer sell to S.F..

So, it looks like The City is crying “sour grapes” on this.

How many Apple products would SF buy anyways? Couple hundred? Given the world wide sales numbers, should Apple give a damn over San Fransicko??

How much money does Apple pump into the SF economy?

They just had their developer conference (WWDC) recently in SF where Apple unveils new products and kisses up to the legions of coders and promoters of their operating systems. This was a large conference over several days and drew lots of salivating fanboys from around the globe.

San Francisco blocking purchases of Apple computers because Apple took them out of the e-Peat list because the manufacturing standards had NOT been updated in seven years to reflect any of the new methods of assembly that Apple was now using!—PING!

Apple's computers are STILL the most "green" but they do not meet the e-Peat's list's out-dated dis-assembly requirements and the newer one's were going to be downgraded because they do not include "screws" to disassemble them.

It ain'y easy being green Apple Ping!

Between employees that live in SF and conferences in SF, quite a lot, actually.

Good for Apple ditching this idiotic standard, tho.

I'm kinda on the fence about this. Older computers needed to be able to be disassembled for recycling to comply with this standard. Of course, this also meant they could be disassembled for repair. I believe the latest stink over this issue regarding Apple has to do with their newest laptops which are held together by epoxy, not screws, and have the batteries glued in.

Cheaper to manufacture, sure, but if it breaks, you throw it away (along with the battery). You can't take it apart to fix it and you can't dispose of the battery separately.

Amen on that one! I wanted so bad to purchase an Apple. Seeing that the whole world is PC, well the choice was made for me. I am so glad that I have. You need to know how to troubleshoot and what do you see the most?

Somebody should have some fun with this. Make a list of other companies the lefties like, who are also giving up on “going green”, and what SF is going to do in response.

1) Starbucks has decided to no longer use recycled paper. So SF has prohibited the consumption of coffee in all city buildings.

2) Ben & Jerry’s ice cream... So SF will conduct blood tests of all employees for ice cream consumption.

3) Left wing Genetech will now merge with Monsanto. SF decrees that no vegetables can now be sold in the city.
