Drudge Report ^ | Thursday, July 12, 2012

**Exclusive**

Late Thursday evening, Mitt Romney's presidential campaign launched a new fundraising drive, 'Meet The VP' -- just as Romney himself has narrowed the field of candidates to a handful, sources reveal.

And a surprise name is now near the top of the list: Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice!

The timing of the announcement is now set for 'coming weeks'.

MORE

It was Condi who received two standing ovations at Romney's Utah retreat a few weeks ago, and everyone left with her name on their lips.

Rice made an extended argument for American leadership in the world.

I think this is a terrible choice. Romney should pick someone who will be a good choice to run for president in 8 years should he be elected. He needs to be thinking more strategically. Rubio is a better choice. He is conservative and persuasive.

This is one of the most ridiculous comments I’ve yet to hear on here, are you for real? Seriously? Good luck winning the presidency without a single vote from those 99% of Hispanics.

Works for me. Anyone this side of Obama, is a plus.

This commies have been gutting this ship endlessly for 4 years now, we’re taking on so much water that it’s getting tougher to see the light, and some people are worried about the quality of the cooks in the kitchen.

Hey, we don’t do anything to save this ship right now, you won’t have to worry about the quality of the food.

I am still Newt fan and nothing would make me happier than to have Newt sitting as VP

I'd lose respect for NG if he accepted the invitation. Nor would it help the campaign to have Obama playing that clip of Romney saying the Speaker "resigned in disgrace" over and over again from here to election day.

I discovered a side of her as a result of Dick Cheney’s book as well.

I held high hopes for her in the GW Bush administration and she failed miserably, in my opinion.

One last thought.....Mitt has made the promise that he would not choose a VP who was not Pro-Life and Rice is definitely pro-choice.

Willard is only being “politically correct” by picking a hispanic, or a black woman...why not pick someone cause they can do the job....not for race or gender....It just goes to show you he doesn’t have their votes...therefore,cannot do the job to begin with..or he would have their votes..

She doesn’t bring in votes from a native state.
She doesn’t bring in conservatives for her conservative values.

While she is brilliant and has significant foreign policy experience, she was also a part of the Bush administration. She would thus allow the Obama campaign to re-ignite the very successful anti-Bush arguments. It also might be viewed that she is being brought onto the ticket because of her skin color and her gender.

She is more of a liability than an asset. There are better choices.

By becoming an Obot in ‘08, she proved that being black meant more to her than her country. She would be a disaster. She was an awful SoS who believed in a two-state “solution” for Israel. She thinks that everything is negotiable, and she couldn’t even figure out that the cold, angry Marxist Barack Obama is an enemy of freedom.
She is a very bright woman who lacks common sense. She would hurt Romney dramatically. There is NO upside! Bob

Obama would attack Romney-Rice as a continuation of the Bush years. It would not work because Bush is highly unpopular.

If he picks Condi we might as well get use to living in tyranny.

Because he won’t win with her on the ticket.

Just sayin.

Mitt will do what Reagan did - and that is, pick a pro-abortion VP to win the election!

Sick of the threats of: “Well I won’t vote for Romney, don’t care what anybody says.” Sick of the threats of: “I’ll vote 3rd party if Romney doesn’t pick the right VP.”

You people do what you wanna do, but afterwards you have absolutely no right to complain about Barak Hussain Obama’s 2nd term. Absolutely no right. No right at all.

I happen to agree that Romney sucks. I loathe the man and detest his liberalism. Same with Condi (who btw hasn’t even been nominated by Romney yet). If I want the media, Washington Elites and the elites of the Republican party to STOP nominating these creatures, then it is on my back to get out from in front of the television and go grass roots, not vow to pack up my toys and go home.

Flame away. I won’t answer. We always hear the talk that an upcoming election is the most important of our lifetime. However in actuality, this November’s outcome might mean salvaging what’s left of our country or losing it all together to a westernized version of socialism in the next 4 years.

So you folks who are justifiably angry at the Republican Party, go ahead and sit at home or vote 3rd party. Do what you need to do. All I’m saying is if you do, don’t bitch about Obama’s 2nd term. You lose all credibility by your actions in the voting booth or lack there of.
