REDMOND, Wash. — NBC News has acquired full control of msnbc.com and its digital network from Microsoft Corp. and is immediately rebranding the site as NBCNews.com.

Many details of the arrangement remain to be worked out, and financial terms weren't disclosed.

But NBC News President Steve Capus said the site — one of the news industry's earliest and most successful online operations — would become part of NBC News Digital, a new division led by Vivian Schiller, the former president and chief executive of National Public Radio. Schiller joined NBC News as chief digital officer last year.

I’m convinced that a sizable portion of msnbc’s sunday morning ratings can be directly attributed to people who fell asleep watching “lockup: raw” on saturday nights and didn’t turn off the tv.

I was riding the stationary bike at the gym this morning, listening to an audiobook. There was a TV suspended from the ceiling, tuned to MSNBC. I tried to ignore it, but started reading the crawl. They were all obamunists, total leftwingnuts. I can’t believe that anyone who watches that without being forced to is a total moron.

I am personally excited about the prospect of not being a patron
of this endeavor. Does anybody have an address that I won’t send
a thank-you letter to?

They keep trying to repack the same junk and only go drift left to appease moonbats. The few republicans willing to go get the same old stale treatment as the anchors and pundits drift further left or get changed for a hardcore partisan.

It doesn’t make any difference what you call it. Its still trying to pick up a turd by the clean end.

They keep trying to repackage the same junk and only end up drifting further left to appease moonbats. The few republicans or conservatives willing to go on to debate get the same old stale treatment as the anchors and pundits drift leftward or get changed for a hardcore partisan.

Am I correct in reading that this relates to the online .COM Msnbc and not the cable channel? Or is it both?

There's got to be a some sort of law regarding fraud and deceit in naming it NBC"News".com.

How much "real" news is there really, in any given broadcast?

One minute of non-NBC advertising probably has more truthful statements than an entire program day of NBC "news".

The problem is that not only NBC but all of “objective” journalism is corrupt. the wire services (especially the AP, but any and all wire services inherently operate under the corrupt business model which says that “I am transmitting reports from people I don’t employ and don’t even know, so the only way I can sell my reports is to promote the conceit that all journalism is objective.” But since claiming objectivity is inherently oxymoronic (subjectivity is precisely the taking for granted of one’s own objectivity), belonging to an organization which claims objectivity for you is a faustian bargain. You can only accept that claim for yourself at the expense of the independence which would allow you to point out that some other journalist is not objective. The result is not only not objective, it is uniform suppression of the fact that the emperor has no clothes.
”News” is a suspect category in any event - it does not follow from the fact that a report is new that it is important or even correct. In fact, as SecDef Rumfeld put it, “First reports are always wrong."

Emilie Leonia Brzezinski is co-host of MSNBC’s weekday morning program Morning Joe, where she provides regular commentary and reads the news headlines for the program.

I watched Morning
Joe for the hell of it this morning
this Brzezinski woman is the worst IMO they need to get her off she offers nothing except oh yeah she can read the news

"Acquired" my ass. Microsoft ditched PMSNBC last week over their increasingly radical politics.

Really? I'm unaware of any right-wing causes Microsoft supports. Have I missed something?

Personally, I suspect they are just cutting their losses on this money-losing operation. Doesn't the Aquarium Channel get higher ratings?

Yes...MSFT has complained for months that it is compelled to display MSNBC 'news' articles on its MSN portal, and they had moved to the far left, and trashing the entire deal was the only way to end it.
