Savannah Dietrich, 17, could be locked up on contempt-of-court charges for tweeting the names of her attackers after they allegedly got a sweetheart plea bargain, according to a published report. * * * The judge in the case had further protected the sex fiends by placing a gag order that barred Dietrich from talking about what happened to her.

“You are equating a non-violent reaction to drinking (falling asleep) to a violent reaction to drinking (sexual abuse of another person). One is a natural reacton to too much alcohol, the other is not natural. One does not harm anyone else (unless you’re driving!), the other harms another person.

Sleeping!!!! She was passed out! You make it sound like she just put on her PJ’s and tucked herself into bed! She was probably sprawled out on the floor in a pool of her own vomit. Also, I can tell that you have not hung around drunken people before, alcohol lowers inhibitions (which is why traditionally guys have tried to get girls drunk, it makes them easier to have sex with). With lowered inhibitions all sorts of things come to the surface, violence (ever hear of a bar room brawl?), lust and all sorts of inappropriate behavior. So I would say that what happened is entirely “natural” as anyone with a once of common sense would know, which is why traditionally parents kept their girls away from this type of thing.

I have no sympathy for the girl in this case, she knew or should have known what would happen. I also have no sympathy for the boys in this case but to absolve the girl from any responsibility for her actions is just stupid, in the extreme, and will only encourage more of this type a behavior in girls with the predictable results that we see here.

The boys were not at the wild party when they decided to show off photos that they took of her naked and them sexually assaulting her. This was done deliberately days and weeks after the fact. Alcohol was not in play then.

They should be charged with porn as well.

“Thought that sex offenders` names were already public information by law-
United States Department of Justice National Sex Offender Public ...”

I think you’ll find that not so if they’re juveniles. The “Court” is “Protecting” these “minor” criminals.

“I am disappointed by the large contingent of Freepers who are defending the willful and uncivilized behavior of the segment of society that is responsible for civilizing young men. No wonder we are in such trouble.”

It’s called feminism and a lot of conservatives have a very particular form of it where women can do no wrong, any woman is to be believed no matter how badly she’s behaved, and any guy that she accuses is guilty and should be shot on sight no matter how lame the story she spins. Basically feminism of the women good men bad mentality and they’ll support bad women no matter what even if it means society is crumbling because of it, which it is.

“Doing stupid things while drunk does not include rape or any type of sexual assault. That is not considered stupid, it is considered criminal....”

In times past when things were more rational than they are today people could use reasoning to see that in these types of situations responsibility for what happened also included the behavior of the girl and her actions were taken into account. Also, other than the girl crying rape I see no indication that the law thought that she was raped as I seriously doubt they would have let these guys get off on a misdemeanor if they had evidence of a real rape. Your hysterics are just that, the hysterical rantings of a woman that demands the unreasonable.

“Nor were the boys.”

I believe I'm going to raise the BS flag here. The boys were sufficiently in control of their bodies to operate video equipment (even if it was only a cell phone, it requires a reasonable amount of fine-motor control) and she was not. Not a wise decision for her to let herself get in that condition, but not giving consent, either. I've got two daughters, and a son. If my son ever treated a girl that way, drunk or sober, the court would be looking at my treatment of him, not his treatment of her.

This foolish woman put herself in a similar situation, went to a ‘wild’ party willingly, drank willingly, willingly stayed in the company of other drunks, including young men who were also not in control of themselves because of alcohol and/or other drugs got passed out drunk. Now she want to blame others for being a fool.

She is blaming others for the actions THEY took. You seem to be blaming HER for THEIR actions. They pled guilty. There are picture to prove what they did.

She has the guts to go to jail for contempt to stand up for her right of freedom of speech. She was the victim of a crime and now she must protect their identity?....all while they've spread pictures of her all over the internet? I say more power to her. She has more guts than the little boys hiding behind their lawyers, the judge, and the confidentiality judgement handed down by the judge.

She is likely saving others from a similar fate. If they get away with a slap on the wrist and total anonymity, what are the odds they might feel emboldened to do it again or worse? Quite likely, IMO.

She will pay a price for the rest of her life for her passing out and having these boys take advantage of her.

Hysterics? Yea, Right? Just throw insults at a ‘woman’, that’s a good way to shut her up. Sorry - won’t work here. There is evidence - such as photos.

Wow that's a whole lot of conjecture on what she was doing. Have you seen the pictures? And no, sexual abuse, assault, whatever it was, then videotaping it, is not "natural" when someone's drunk.

Did you really mean to say that? Absolving her of responsibility? She's been living with the consequences publicly for months. She's got the fortitude to stand up for not only herself, but other possible victims down the line. Yep, this is going to really encourage more young girls to get drunk with their friends, get sexaully assaulted, have it plastered all over, because there was no consequence. HUH?????

“By the way - I find you incredibly naive.”

It’s said that women lack the ability to see the ironic, but that just could be theory ... right?

“... She’s been living with the consequences publicly for months...”

She’s been living with the consequences of her own poor choices you mean. She didn’t have to go to an unsupervised teenage party, she didn’t have to get so drunk that she passed out, she didn’t have to have the sense to at least go with a friend that would watch her back or provide some help. Nope, it’s all the fault of some evil boys and no excuses for them being drunk off their butts either, nope none whatsoever. I would imagine the only thing she’s really upset about is the fact that her character has been exposed for all to see, for that alone these guys should spend the rest of their lives behind bars. Well, you know what they say about women, hell and being scorned so I won’t comment further on what her motivations might be.

Please go away with this nonsense, society is tired of this type of crap talk. Poor judgement on the girls part is not a crime. The boys committed a crime, plain and simple.

I just couldn’t pass up commenting on this, you make her out to be some kind of hero, selflessly pursuing justice for all, kind of like super(wo)man. She’s a drunken teenage s(rhymes with mutt) that’s so out of control and thinks so highly of herself that she’ll disobey a judges order in order to extract that last little bit of vengeance. She’s not, and I seriously doubt that this was the first time something like this happened in her life. Give it up this is trailer park trash not Joan of Arc.

I’m glad you posted this story. I believe the gag order may have been placed because they were juveniles, I’m not sure. I’m not sure if there is a law in place to keep juveniles names from being public

Keeping juveniles' names secret is a rule that applies to courts and other officials. It doesn't apply to victims as far as I know. I don't know what authority a judge has to forbid a victim to speak about the crime against them.

Hmmm, well when rank illogical thinking is exposed I suppose trying to change the subject and if all else fails claiming that everyone in the world is against you are the next steps in what a feminist would use to try and get someone to stop telling them that they’re messed up in the head.

It is not nonsense to see that she had as much to do with what happened as the boys did. But you seem genetically damaged in some way that keeps you from seeing that women have any responsibility for their actions. Nope, it’s all unicorns and skittles for you when it comes to judging the actions of women behaving badly. There are always mitigating circumstances when judging a crime but thanks to feminism what used to be common sensical understandings of how the world works have been thrown out and now it’s all about the “poor little victim”. She’s a self made victim and I have no sympathy for her at all.

Give it up this is trailer park trash not Joan of Arc.

doesnt matter where she comes from or her station in life, she enjoys the same protection of the law as everyone else. The boys stupidly assaulted her then made and sent pictures of her-definately felony stupid, and conduct unbecoming civilized persons. How would they like it if it happened to their sister or girlfriend? How would you like it? blame the victim, but the law is clear she was incapacitated and unable to give consent the law protects the helpless and foolish from predators and opportunists, and thats what these guys were

The defendants plead out to sexual assault. No judge in America can gag a victim if their are not 6th Amendment issues at stake during or preceding a trial which is not the case here. Unlawful orders are just that, unlawful. Of course they can in Saudi Arabia which is exactly where you belong.
