Speaking in front of 60,000 assembled in Hyde Park at a concert to mark the end of the Olympic Torch relay, the London Mayor reaffirmed the city's zeal for the historic event.
'There are some people coming from around the world who don't yet know if we are ready,' the Mr Johnson roared.
'There's a guy called Mitt Romney who wants to know whether we are ready. Are we ready? Yes we are!'
Well then why didn't he just simply say, "We extend our wishes that Britain comes together for an Olympic Experience", and leave it at that.
You know damn well if Obama had said this, you and all the others would have blasted him for it.
“make a statement that can be regarded as insulting your host”
Cameron is a hardcore Obamabot. He deserves the insult.
When he visited the US in March he said that Obama has “strength, moral authority and wisdom” and then refused to meet any of the GOP candidates.
He’s a muslim appeaser, pro-gay marriage socialist. This is not someone you want as an ally.
Concur, but still voting for him.
Well let me tell you why I would blast Obama, it’s because I don’t support Obama and for good reasons.
OTOH I do support Romney likewise for good reasons.
However, an objective reading of Romney’s words equals he said nothing offensive. The Brits apparently require that you kiss their arses on the Olympics just as you must kiss muslim arse there now.
I suggest the mistake is theirs come November. Just maybe they are the stupid ones.
You can think Cameron is Satan but I expect more from our politicians than insulting host countries and being the stereotypical ugly American overseas.
I will vote for Romney, but I am still going to call it, when he does dumb things, and this was dumb.
I am not a baby. I am veteran of a thousand psychic wars - well campaigns, anyhow. I know how little dumb things can become huge awful things, when the press is against you. The warning came with yesterday's ridiculous "Anglo-Saxon" nonsense. He should have just smiled and said how he can't wait to see the Olympics and that he wants it to be a huge success. No nuance. NOTHING that the evil scum at the Guardian, BBC and DNC can use against him.
I guess Mitt still has to learn how not to give honest answers to silly questions ...
Not really. He may be a Torie but he’s also liberal.
“Much ado about nothing yawnnn”
Right you are, E Plur.
Just the MSM looking for any reason to go after Romney. Yeah, maybe he should not have said it, but the idiot Cammeron, who is no conservative, has made a bigger fool out of himself by his insulting comments, and he may end up looking even more like the fool that he is if Romney proves to be correct. From what I have been reading, the Brits could come off looking rather incompetent due to poor planning.
If you are a veteran of a 1000 whatever campaigns, then you should know not to panic everytime someone gets their panties in a wad. I am reacting in general to the many Freepers who will always show up to immediately panic the moment a republican is criticized for something they said.
I read Romney’s quote and didn’t find in it any criticism of the London preparations. Note they say he “questioned” whether they are ready. The media and other politicians may be responsible for creating a controversey.
The wildly exaggerated reactions to the Chik Fil A owner’s comments are another example, though in that case Freepers did not panic.
I like Boris to some extent - his quirky British way I suppose - but Boris is all about Boris. He doesn’t like criticism and any American would be a good target for him given his base and the way England is heading.
