Chick-fil-A owners can build — if they promise not to support groups with a political agenda

I can’t find a transcript but it sure sounds from the article like he’s trying to get them to forfeit their right to support anti-SSM groups in return for a permit. In other words, they can keep their freedom of speech, sort of, as long as they cede their freedom of association. That’s “Chicago values,” I guess.

"Chicago Alderman Joe Moreno says the door isn’t entirely closed on a new Chick-fil-A restaurant opening in his 1st ward.

Moreno told WBEZ that the owners seeking to build the restaurant have said they won’t support any groups with a political agenda, including those with an anti-gay marriage stance.

Moreno says if he gets an explicit guarantee from the franchise owner he will consider granting zoning rights to a new Chick-fil-A in Logan Square.

“If they’re serious about that, and they’re willing to put that in writing and they’re willing to adopt that. I think those are the grounds where we can move forward,” Moreno said.

This is discrimination plain and simple. Have they required the same promise from all other businesses?

This may seem like a relatively minor skirmish in the culture wars but I see it as a serious infringement, if not an attack on our First Amendment rights of freedom of speech and the practice of religion. The Chick-Fil-A CEO honestly answered a direct question from a religious publication and simply affirmed his belief in the biblical standard of what constitutes a marriage; one man, one woman. He was not making a declaration of antipathy toward those who chose to engage in homosexual behaviors. His restaurants do not discriminate against 'gays'. As I understand it, Chick-Fil-A not only serves anyone - including 'gays' - but also employs 'gays'. There is simply no basis for the PC rubbish being heaped on Chick-Fil-A establishments by grandstanding politicians.

This attempt to bully a man who simply holds a biblical view of what constitutes a marriage in the eyes of God by attempting to harm his business and make him a pariah is outrageous. Chicago is a sewer of political corruption and rapidly becoming the murder capital of America. Yet it's politicians want to use the PC BS that holding a Biblical-based view of what constitutes marriage is akin to the worst form of racism and deserving of severe punishment (financial, in this case) is simply unacceptable. Sure, it may be legal and we all know that taking a stand, even obliquely, as the Chick-Fil-A CEO did can have consequences but this bullying by the thugs that pose as political 'leaders' in corrupt Chicago have taken it too far.

I dare them to try this on Farrakhan and The Nation of Islam, who are adamantly opposed to same-sex marriage. If the Nation of Islam (Black Muslims) can stand up for their beliefs and push back on politicians who oppose them with PC twaddle, why can't Christians do the same? Political Correctness (which has a distinct Orwellian ring to it) is being used to weaken and eventually destroy traditional beliefs and values (and their practice). We cannot simply sit back, cluck our tongues, shake our heads then go back to watching a ball game and forget about it, until the next outrage. This cannot stand.

If there was a black Muslim who wanted to open a Chick-Fil-A you can bet this whole issue would go away. No way Rahm or the mayor of Boston would treat him the same way as a Christian. It would be funny to watch their squirming to get out of their statements.

We don’t have any Chick-fil-a near us in central NY State, and I just did a search at their site to see what the closest location is. There’s only one restaurant in NY State, and that’s at NY University in NY City. They’ve avoided NY State like the plague. Can’t say as I blame them.

So it’s okay then for a conservative mayor of a large city to tell Ben and Jerry’s they can sell their product in their city if they don’t promote a political agenda?

Chick-fil-A should take this bozo to court. If the courts rule that a porn shop can open in a town, then Chick-fil-A can open in Chicago. It’s about the First Amendment.

Amazon and ebay both need to be passed over. If you go to google and enter the title of a book and then click “shopping” you’ll find alternatives.
Other than that I don’t advocate using google either!

You’re absolutely right. But let’s take it further, there’s a lot of blacks who own businesses and are dead-set against gay marriage. The black community as a whole does not approve of it.

So Chick-fil-a cannot support a political group with an agenda? But businesses owned by perverted homosexual can? Wow talk about discrimination.

Chick-fil-A owners should tell these thugs to forget it

They will. A new mall in the Atlanta area told CFA they had to stay open on Sunday, guess what happened. The mall had to back down or have a bunch of unhappy people in their food court.

Apparently, Al Capone’s mob never really went away. They simply went into politics

Actually, IMHO Capone, Nitti and the gang had more integrity than this bunch. At least they were honest and up front about who and what they were.

But they still overwhelmingly vote liberal. Same with Hispanics.

True, but if they are Christians being black isn’t enough to warrant an excuse. They just aren’t “black enough” is usually what libs say isn’t it? Hey what about a black Jew? How would Rahm handle that?

So they support a Gay political groups agenda of business,
but not strait and normal business folk.

I see, so if you want to do business you shut your mealy mouth about anal sex,
unless you support it, then it's ok.
