Obama Attempts To Suppress Ohio Military Vote

Politics: The administration likes to use soldiers for photo-ops but now, in a critical battleground state, they want to restrict the extra time for service members who protect our right to vote to cast theirs.

mvsaclThe administration showed its true appreciation for military service when, on July 17, the Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee and the Ohio Democratic Party filed suit in that swing state to strike down part of the state's law governing voting by members of the military that gives them extra time to cast their ballots.

Ohio is one of 32 states that allows early voting in person or by mail without an excuse.

Until recently Ohio state law allowed early voting in person for everyone up until the Monday before the Tuesday election. The GOP-controlled legislature moved that deadline back to the Friday before, retaining the Monday deadline for military personnel.

Republican Gov. John Kasich signed the bill into law.

AMVETS, the National Guard Association of the United States, the U.S. Army Association and other organizations on Wednesday asked a judge to dismiss the suit that seeks to deny members of the military the three extra days to cast their votes early on the grounds that the Ohio legislature was not discriminating against anyone, but merely recognizing the difficulties service members can face in casting their ballots.

While Democratic groups say the military exemption is "arbitrary" with "no discernible rational basis," military groups say federal and state law in fact recognizes the need to give military personnel extra time to vote.

Obama in this suit is attempting to deny our brave military men of their well deserved extraconstitutional voting rights and telling our military men that they are no better than some stoned college student in Columbus.

The fact is the matter is that in Ohio and every other state, military men should be able to vote before, on or even after election day.

If anyone is interested in defeating Obama, this is a despicable mockery of fairness concerning our electoral process, which the public must become knowledgeable about. Our military heroes, who of all of us, deserving to have their votes count, being denied their Constitutional right to have their votes counted, needs to run as political ads, to Obama's great shame, non stop. This will definitely resonate with most all of the American public.

I'm just not seeing how the military are being denied anything if the Obama really argument is everyone should have until that Monday rather than just the military.

This all came about because different precincts and counties did different things, when it was left up to localities and the Republicans decided to enforce uniform rules across the state.

Not even the Obamatons would be outrageous enough to openly advocate a more lenient voting policy for black military personnel as opposed to others in the military. Their game is aimed at giving pro-Obama civilian voters more days to vote in Ohio, which furthers opportunities for fraud working to Zero's benefit.

Constitutional attorney Mark Levin spent a good amount of time on this controversy on his nationally syndicated radio show last week, exposing the sinister mindset of the Obama DOJ in their legal strategy.

The fact that battleground state Ohio was chosen by the DOJ as its legal venue, when other states have similar election laws giving military personnel more time to vote than civilians (for logical reasons), speaks volumes as to the DOJ's motive.

I’m sure they’d like some extra fiddle room in a key state like Ohio.

I’m hoping their strategy backfires like everything else they try to do - and pisses off Ohio voters (and voters in other critical states) for having to fund a challenge to their law that was based on an understanding of how the military works and how the system routinely disenfranchises the very people who protect this nation’s survival.

This story shows better than any single thing how hopelessly inept the GOP is at politics.

Every GOP talking head and office holder ought to repeat like a parrot on every show, in every interview: "Democrats are trying to disenfranchise our men and women in uniform."

Over and over. Day after day:

"Democrats are trying to disenfranchise our men and women in uniform."

Until people are muttering it to themselves in their sleep:

"DEMOCRATS ARE TRYING TO DISENFRANCHISE OUR MEN AND WOMEN IN UNIFORM!!!!

That's exactly what Democrats would do if the tables were turned. But Republicans are too hopelessly timid.

Which is why Myth will lose.
