Rocker DEE SNIDER has lashed out at U.S. vice presidential hopeful PAUL RYAN for allegedly using his popular tune WE'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT during a campaign stop in Pennsylvania. Ryan, who is currently touring America to support Mitt Romney's bid for the White House, reportedly tried to boost morale during a political rally on Tuesday (21Aug12) by blaring the classic Twisted Sister hit to pump up the crowd. However, Snider has taken issue with the politician's use of the song and has lodged a formal complaint with Ryan's camp. A statement from the 57 year old reads, "I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan's use of my band Twisted Sister's song 'We're Not Gonna Take It' in any capacity. There is almost nothing he stands for that I agree with except the use of the (home exercise regime) P90X." This is not the first time a Republican Party candidate has been reprimanded for their choice of music - earlier this month (Aug12) rockers Silversun Pickups fired off a cease-and-desist letter ordering Romey to stop playing their track Panic Switch.
I don’t know why they’re picking some lame songs like this...
I’ve got some suggestions for themes...
How does one get in touch with the right person in the campaign who can change it?
Asking for FReep help.
Really, this guy had what? One hit! He’s a one-hit wonder who has gotton more mileage out of that one lipstick-wearing hit than most any other “musician”.
I never understand why this guy keeps popping up like some type of musical authority. The guy basically is known for one, single song — and wearing red lipstick.
Because they are overwhelmingly liberal.
If Democrat musicians are going to persist in giving free concerts for Obama (average cost per act $25,000-1,000,000 for a jerk like Springsteen), assess it as a campaign contribution.
Same with the broadcast of their songs.
Also, find out which songs were written/bought by someone OTHER than the famous singers (that’s who ultimately owns the song).
Hey, Congress is great about passing laws and exempting themselves from them. What happened here ?!
Just pass a bill and exempt Congress from Copyright Laws too.
Another thing: Just suppose a GOP Department of Justice took the Eric Holder approach and refused to initiate or prosecute cases of illegal copying, downloading and file sharing when the so-called artist was not one of a friendly political stripe.
BMI and ASCAP - buy a license, pay for using it in a public setting. Not sure if an artist can say he gives permission to license music through either of these parties to anyone but x person or venue.
But Gretchen Wilson sang it on the campaign trail, rocked it and was better than Ann Wilson.
I recall the rest of the band, especially the out-standing drummer on the song, loved Sarah using it!
He was only famous because the video director was smart enough to hire “Niedermayer” from Animal House for their videos.
Why would Ayn Rand fans not like Rush Limbaugh?
The perfect song to use is “In America” by Charlie Daniels if RR wants to make the association between the Reagan recovery after Carter and His/their recovery after Obama...
In America lyrics
Well the eagle’s been flying slow
and the flag’s been flying low
And a lot of people are saying
that America’s fixing to fall
But speaking just for me
and some people from Tennessee
we got a thing or two to tell you all
This lady may have stumbled
but she ain’t never fell
And if the Russians don’t believe that
they can all go straight to hell
We’re gonna put her feet back on
the path of righteousness and then
God bless America again
(chorus)
And you never did think that
it ever would happen again
In America, did you?
You never did think that
we’d ever get together again
Well we damn sure fooled you
We’re walking real proud and
we’re talking real loud again in America
You never did think that
it ever would happen again
From the sound up in Long Island
out to San Francisco Bay
And every thing that’s
in between them is our home
And we may have done a little
bit of fighting amongst ourselves
but you outside people best leave us alone
Cause we’ll all stick together
and you can take that to the bank
That’s the cowboys and the hippies
and the rebels and the yanks
You just go and lay your head
on a Pittsburgh Steeler fan
and I think you’re gonna finally understand
(chorus)
Libtards are beyond being mere barking moonbats, the Zappa children and Dee Snider ENDORSED Al Gore in 2000 after he and his wife famously went after the music industry (notice how his wife doesn’t give a $#!^ now). It was all a ruse but they are still ignorant fools for endorsing him.
He whipped up hysteria, as I suspect his daddy told him to, just as Tennessee Senator Estes Kefauver (D) played up the “degenerate” images in comic books to get public attention. Kefauver’s national run for the White House kept Al Gore Sr. from being able to get on the ticket. images in comic books to get public attention. Kefauver
Way ahead of you there, I never bought any crap from these painted whores the first time around.
When you hear it in commercials, movies and TV shows they’re getting paid, usually quite a bit. If a politician uses the most their getting is the ASCAP fee which is like $50. Plus of course they’re all liberals, that’s the tendency in the art producing community.
Didn't he come up from the same lame hair metal band that dominated radio/MTV in the 1980s, and therefore dominated the sharts, I mean charts?
I wouldn’t call TS “Art”.
Thats what i was thinking. Its not like it is being used
to sell another product or in a film that makes other revenue. Why isn’t the situation is - he(or any candidate)
is at a big party for themselves, they have a favorite song
and like to hear it at a certain moment. Also its kind of loud and everyone else hears it too.
If they want us to fight for them, which i’m gearing up to
do, it would help to have a little fired up motivational
action, rather just we’ll fight for you in words.
