Second Amendment bloggers share concerns over training police for domestic war

A training program for civilian police by the United States Marine Corps has caused concern among liberty activist/Second Amendment-supporting bloggers, resulting in a call to demand accountability from the Marines and from Congressional representatives, Western Rifle Shooters Association blog alerted its readers yesterday.

Responding to a report last week by WNCT CBS 9 News in Greenville, NC, titled “Marines, civilian police officers conduct urban training exercise,” WRSA linked its readers to The Arctic Patriot blog, where “a veteran with over eight years of prior service in the US Army” expressed his concerns and asked “As a civilian rifleman, being a part of the United States' Constitutional Militia, when can I and my other countrymen expect an invitation to train alongside US Marines?”

The average Marine has the average Kop vastly outclassed. This has got to be an ego exercise for wannabes.

Something very unusual and very ominous is going on in America. Increasingly, the cops view themselves as a paramilitary force. Increasingly, they view the average citizen as “them” and fellow cop as “us”. Increasingly they act more like a group of unionized goons with guns instead of a constabulary.

Those that think that way had better realize that they live next to us... their wives are friends with our wives... their children go to school with our children.

As much as I hate to say this, but if the Marines are involved in this I’ll lose all respect for them.

This was discussed by knowledgeable Freepers yesterday. Check out all the posts at this thread. It was an enlightening discussion and will restore your faith in our beloved Marines.

The militarization of the local police departments across the nation with technology and training has been going on for quite a long time. How can it be stopped?

Excellent question —I am sixty two-spent seven yrs seven months and a wake-up on active duty. I told some FBI guys from
Sodom(Denver) that we still have a Second Amendment. And I don’t give a rats behind if there are a lot of folks think I shouldn’t have any guns—but we have a second amendment. And I will keep my guns until we no longer are a Constitutional republic. The excellent question EVERY free American citizen ought be asking the USMC— and the State/ local police is where can we train alongside y’all for urban warfare? I still have a year or so qualification as part of the unorganized Militia.
