Charlotte Observer print edition:

Embassies under siege as Arab violence spreads

The story was picked up from the New York Times.

The online edition promotes the #2 headline in the print edition to the lead story:

Corporate cash paid DNC's arena fee

The story is by Tim Funk of the Observer, and notes Obama's evidently broken pledge not to use corporate funds for the actual convention here in Charlotte.

The Observer leans left, and is often prone to headlines like "Banks hike fees; women and minorities suffer most." On this particular morning, however, I have no complaints about the lead headlines. Not to worry; I'm sure I'll find something to raise my blood pressure on their editorial page.

This is from the home page of the Freelance Star, Fredericksburg, VA:

-Man gets 30 years for child porn

-Man faces life term for crime spree

-First lady says nation's progress slow, but sure

-Speech stirs supporters to work for president's re-election

-UMW will cover towing fees

-Photo gallery: Michelle Obama in Fredericksburg

-Stafford deputies take down karate-class intruder

-Families vow to help campaign after hearing Michelle Obama's call

-Deal struck in case involving British Royal Navy officer

-Many voters could use refresher course in U.S. civics

-Directory links disabled with helpers

-Judge unseals exhibits against ex-officer

-Police charge pair with 'bogus' holdup

-First Lady speaks at UMW, visits YMCA in Spotsylvania

-Michelle Obama stops at Spotsylvania YMCA on way to Fredericksburg

-UMW 'not happy' about towings at Eagle Village

-Picture: Anderson Center filling up in advance of Michelle Obama's visit

-Picture: Passing the time while waiting for Michelle Obama

If you notice eight of the eighteen headlines are about the First Wookie and nothing about the Middle East.

The "Star" used to be somewhat right wing but now they are almost worthless.

Lol!

Norman Rockwell-ish!

There’s a website out there that has indexed and scanned in something like 19 million pages of small town newspapers from upstate NY, where I grew up.

There are short articles about me and my brothers and sisters, I found an article about my dad having to miss school because he slipped on the ice and broke his arm when he was about ten ears old...

I still remember the cotton candy and small town Ferris wheels...

I didn’t realize that anyone still read the Chronicle, on-line or otherwise!

Our local suburban paper doesn’t have an on-line version and only publishes hard copy two days a week.

AP- Violence Continues; Protesters Storm US Embassy in Yemen

FreeBeacon.com-Reports:No Live Ammo for Marines

AP-U.S. IDs Anti-Muslim Filmmaker

AP-Libyan Attacks: Two-part Militant Assault

There there is some local news about a kid getting killed when he was hit by a car while he was skateboarding to school, a pedestrian was killed crossing Hesperia Road just after midnight, and a gang member is being tried for attempted murder.
Our local paper probably had the best coverage of the 9-11 events that I saw anywhere. I get the hard copy version, digitally, on-line. The headlines are from their hard-copy version. The website hasn't the rights to publish the same articles.

The Newseum in DC has a page (updated daily) with images of just about every US paper's front page.

An earlier poster replied with what also surprised me this morning here in Charlotte: A story about how corporate interests DID pay for events and venues at the DNC, despite Obama and Democrat promises to the contrary, and big coverage of the attacks and protests at our embassies.
