Disgrace in Benghazi (Steyn)
National Review Online ^ | September 15, 2012 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 09/15/2012 2:17:02 AM PDT by Yardstick

So, on a highly symbolic date, mobs storm American diplomatic facilities and drag the corpse of a U.S. ambassador through the streets. Then the president flies to Vegas for a fundraiser. No, no, a novelist would say; that’s too pat, too neat in its symbolic contrast. Make it Cleveland, or Des Moines.

[snip]

One can understand why they might do this, given the fiasco in Libya. The men who organized this attack knew the ambassador would be at the consulate in Benghazi rather than at the embassy in Tripoli. How did that happen? They knew when he had been moved from the consulate to a “safe house,” and switched their attentions accordingly. How did that happen? The United States government lost track of its ambassador for ten hours. How did that happen? Perhaps, when they’ve investigated Mitt Romney’s press release for another three or four weeks, the court eunuchs of the American media might like to look into some of these fascinating questions, instead of leaving the only interesting reporting on an American story to the foreign press.

Mark Steyn, I am glad as hell he is on our side.

Who on the left can compete with this great mind?

Cher? (Smart)Alex Baldwin? Michael Moore(and More)?

Al Gore, Jr? Carrot Top?

You know what I mean.

I hope that if Romney is elected in November, and the Republicans take over the Senate, that some one will finally have the balls to go after the MSM.

The MSM is certainly the enemy within, and has been the driving force in America's decline.

Agreed - a coruscating piece by Steyn.

There’s only one other figure in human history who displays the same mixture of drunken hubris, spiteful homosexual rage and slothful incompetence as Obama.

That would be the Emperor Caligula, who frankly left some pretty big shoes to fill. But Obama is going for it.

This following is good insight of what we have “in charge” He doesn’t give a flying flip. Does anyone actually think he’s lost any sleep over any of this?

In 2008, Harvard Law classmate...remembered Obama as ‘a pretty cold fish’ (audio at link)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2915477/posts

Liebau said his (Obama’s) advice started off sound, but ultimately came off as disappointing.

“He said, ‘Look, what do you care who does the work?’” Liebau recalled Obama saying in reference to her management of the law review. “’It is the same amount of work for you to hand out the work no matter who it goes to, so why fight it? Do what’s easiest for you. Give the work to the people who will do the work, and just don’t worry about the people who don’t want to pull their weight.’”

Liebau wasn’t impressed.

“I guess I was young and naïve: I was like, ‘Ah but that wouldn’t be fair,’” she said.

“And what surprised me is apparently that didn’t bother Barack at all. It was just kind of like — take the easy way out. Why bother yourself with all these silly notions about justice and fairness? Do what works. Revealing? I don’t know. Good advice? I didn’t particularly think so.”

Mr.Steyn pulls no punches. Why is it that it takes a non American Journalist to tell the truth? The so called leadership in this country is a full fledged disgrace. Why is no one calling for, demanding the resignations of Clinton and Obama?

Why is no one calling for, demanding the resignations of Clinton and Obama?

Because that would be misogynistic and WACIST!!!!!!!

As to the author of this fine article?

Mark Steyn is a treasure of wisdom and truth telling.

Mark? Avoid any of the late Andrew Breitbart's watering holes, you never know who might be lurking in the shadows with something to slip into your drink.

I still don’t understand why Stevens made this trip to Benghazi on Sept 11...of all days. I’m assuming this was his decision.

Also, the Egyptian gov’t had been fomenting unrest for days before the attack on the embassy in Cairo. We cleared out our staff there. Don’t the embassy’s communicate with one another? Doesn’t the State Dept warn other embassy’s that they’re expecting trouble and since we’re coming up on Sept 11th, everyone needs to be on high alert?

There are so many questions.

As I recall, Stevens went to Benghazi because he had to sign or approve some portion of a aid deal. I only read this once, and I don’t recall all the details.

I wonder if it was a set-up to lure him out there.

Too funny.

Yes, I remember reading too that he went there for some sort of specific duty.
But why go on Sept 11th? Why not say you’ll be there on the 12th? If they had done that, the Cairo attack would have stopped him from going on the 12th.

Stevens seems to have been way too trusting, and probably assumed he was going to meet with local officials and therefore would be safe.

And he’s even more drunk on his celebrity than the fanbois, so in his slapdashery he winds up comparing the sacrifice of a diplomat lynched by a pack of savages with the enthusiasm of his own campaign bobbysoxers.

I believe the word "sacrifice" is apropos - to actually follow Canada's actions of the week before, and protect her people while kicking the animals out of her country would be akin to admitting the fallacy of the horrible decisions to put the terrorists in charge of mid-east countries. It was deemed that it was better to leave them for the slaughter was more beneficial to the monstrosity in the WH.

Stevens is a naive leftist that has managed to get a lot of innocent people murdered....this leftist fool was key in pushing the Obama fools into removing Ga-daffy, resulting in untold death and destruction. I hate to say this but Stevens has met his karma.
