Pakistani protesters broke through a barricade surrounding the U.S. Consulate in Karachi on Sunday, September 16, leading to clashes with the police that killed one demonstrator and injured 18. Demonstrators were protesting against the controversial anti-Islam video released last week. Police used water cannons and tear gas on demonstrators when the protests turned violent. No U.S. officials have been harmed. Another protester was killed in Warai, Upper Dir district in an 800-strong protest against the film. Protesters had set a magistrate’s house and the local press club on fire, resulting in an exchange of gunfire with police. In Lahore, 8,000 people attended an anti-American rally led by Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, head of Jamaat-ud-Dawa, the front group for Pakistani terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba. Four thousand people attended a similar protest organized by Jamiat-Ulema-Islam in Dera Ismail Khan.[1]

The US has offered a $10m (£6m) reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a prominent Pakistani radical blamed for the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, in which 166 people were killed.

Hafiz Muhammad Saeed founded the violent extremist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which in the 1990s sent Islamist militants to fight Indian troops in Kashmir, and is blamed by US and Indian officials for organising the 2008 attacks on tourists and commuters in India's commercial capital.

The move is seen as a direct challenge to Pakistan's security establishment, which has a close relationship with Saeed. Although he was briefly put under house arrest and has been banned from travelling to the capital, Saeed regularly addresses mass rallies of his supporters. Last month he evaded police and joined a demonstration outside parliament in Islamabad.

Wonderful ally we have there in Pakistan. Good thing Obama TRIPLED the aid we give them each year compared to what Bush gave them. Really nice to see what the $1.5 BILLION a year buys us.

Wow, we had better shut down the liberal enclave Hollywood in total before we offend anyone else to the point of violence.

Why can’t we just have ‘em spread the word about another protest for tomorrow....and give ‘em all “their highest wish” if-you-know-what-I-mean???

In the upper US Midwest, one of the less populated states decided to hold a lottery, with a big money jackpot. They were surprised because there was little interest. Then someone got the bright idea of asking people what *they* wanted. The answer was a new, top of the line, rugged pickup truck. So they changed the lottery to make its jackpot a truck, and the lottery became a hit, overnight.

Even though the cash would have been enough to buy a fleet of pickups, that was not what motivated the locals.

This same rule applies to putting a bounty on some reprobate in Pakistan. Instead of offering them $10m, which obviously isn’t working, the US needs to find out what *they* really want.

If they really want a big herd of goats, offer them that, even if it is only worth a few grand.

Another pointer is not to suggest that the prize will only be given for his arrest and conviction. That is really dumb, at least from their point of view. Instead just put up a bounty on his head, “alive or dead.”

Wanted: Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, dead or alive, for a herd of 100 head of goats.

If it really hit home with what Pakistanis fantasize about, every cutthroat in Pakistan would be after him. But you can’t offer it until you know what they want.

The only reason we continue to give Pakistan money is they have nukes that we DO NOT want falling into the hands of terrorists.
