Political reporters on Twitter are saying they are standing by for a Romney media availability on the video released today by Mother Jones of Romney at a May fundraiser speaking frankly of his thoughts on Obama's base voters and their entitlement mentality, aka the 47% who pay no federal income taxes.
The media and GOP-E have jumped ugly on Romney tonight.
Steve Holland, Reuters: Romney at press avail to respond to video says his comments weren't "elegantly stated," and "could have said it in a more effective way."
Taxes on capital gains are income taxes - not ordinary income but capital gains income.
Palin has done more damage to Libs with a facebook page than Romney and the GOP have done in the last year.
He can get on you tube and speak spin free.
Brian Williams showed a snippet and asked Chuck Todd to comment on what he heard. Chuck likened it to Obama’s comment about people clinging to their guns and religion and how it hurt the President and still haunts him to this day. Really? Haven’t heard it for four years now. Chuck asked is it something the candidate truly believes or is it said for the benefit of the audience. To say 47% don’t pay taxes will grow legs and hurt him. Williams added it’s the eye of the beholder issue and people will make of what what they wish” and then proceeded to tell the audience how the Romney camp is in disarray.

The country is going bankrupt, and even those who depend on government should realize that we have to make some choices or we will all live in abject poverty with riots in the streets, very soon!
Most of those people would have invested their social security in what they wanted if liberals would let them but no, they wouldn’t..

I just read an overview of Romney’s comments - I see a downside. there are plenty of people in the 47% that will/would vote for Romney. Maybe Romney doesn’t realize that. They may find his remarks insulting. The media will definitely capitalize on this latest opportunity. Hopefully it doesn’t do too much damage.
Or perhaps he just doesn't understand the federal tax system (a variety of income taxes on individuals, organizations, etc., a variety of excise taxes, tariffs, and capital gains taxes).
Wouldn't be the first president to have no idea how the system works ~ most of them don't.
