We can take it from the mainstream media themselves that when embarrassing tapes turn out to be missing any portion, they are "doctored" and therefore discredited. By this standard, the tape released of Mitt Romney discussing the 47% -- considered a fatal gaffe by the progs -- must be discarded.
It turns out that despite claims by Mother Jones that the tapes were presented in full, there is an obvious gap in the recordings. Benny Johnson writes in The Blaze: about the videos posted on the MJ site:
[Romney]"We do all these polls - I find it amazing. We poll all these people to see where you stand in the polls but 45 percent of the people vote for the Republicans and 48 or 49-,"
This is where the first part of the video cuts out.
Part two picks up seemingly on a completely different subject: China.
"...about twice as much as China, not 10 times as much like is reported. And we have responsibility for the whole world, they're only focused on one little area of the world, the south china sea..."

Shocking the media would edit the tape....../sarc
As others have noted:
1. The missing clip is truly missing
2. The missing clip was way to favorable to Romney
3. The missing clip is reserved for a true October Surprise
It is shocking that the media can get away with it!
Romney deserves an apology from those involved.
note the waiter in part 1, in part 2 you see the waiters hand. the waiter did it or knows who did it. it was an employee of the site!
They will all rush to report that it was doctored now too. /s
Holding breath now.
Sssssssssssssssssppppptttttttt! Bwhahahahahahahah!
OK, you owe me a new keyboard for that one.
I don’t see how it can be referred to as “fatal gaffe”.... what he said was completely true.... perhaps an over simplification, but true none the less. Who makes up the 47% Mitt is talking about: those that rely on the Govt to do everything for them, those that don’t contribute any taxes (excluding seniors), liberal elite, teachers, govt workers, union workers, Hollyweird,
We can’t afford to keep paying for the whims and folly of left and for the ever-growing portion of our population on the govt dole.

Bad move.
Don’t discard it!!!
What he said was the TRUTH!
And only through the lens of some progressive government worshipping humanist is this a “gaffe”.
I would like the hear the full contents of the Obama 1998 speech where he spoke of desiring income redistribution.
Who would be surprised about that?
Actually, I’d be surprised if reporting on any Romney speech was NOT fudged.
“Romney deserves an apology from those involved.”
You mean from the dimwitted fat slob that lays claim to the carter name? Sometimes, genetics IS the only claim to fame one gets.
What I find hysterical about the whole flap is the reaction from most average conservatives to these supposedly embarrassing/campaign-ending remarks of Romney’s is: so what? Most conservative Republicans believe a great percentage of non-taxpayers are dissolute parasites anyway. Obviously, a percentage of the 47% are not parasites and even pay some taxs. But the stark fact is that virtually every individual who looks for a taxpayer-funded handout from the government for their own personal benefit votes Democrat. That is one truism the leftist media cannot spin.
I’m sure we’ll be seeing this explained in great detail from CNN at noon.
