Poll shows Jewish support for Obama in Florida down 7 percent from 2008

Support for President Barack Obama among Jews in the state of Florida is down 7 percent on 2008, according to an American Jewish Committee (AJC) poll released Thursday.

A total of 69% of Florida Jews said they would vote for Obama in November’s presidential elections, down from 76% in 2008, the AJC noted.

A 7% drop in the Jewish vote likely represents over 50,000 votes in a state that the Republicans won in 2000 by fewer than 600 votes.

The 69% figure closely matches the results of a Gallup poll among Jewish voters nationwide from last weekend, which put support for Obama among US Jews at 70%.

Only 25% of Florida Jews said they would vote for Mitt Romney, according to the AJC poll.

There is one very telling fact about the poll cited in this article:

The very same David Harris who is the head of the American Jewish Committee, the organization which did the poll, is the David Harris who is the head of the (very partisan) National Jewish Democratic Council!!!

You would have to be brain dead to think that this doesn't introduce a blatant pro-Obama bias and conflict of interest in the polling technique and the reporting of the results, yet somehow the writer of the posted article doesn't even mention that the two David Harrises he quotes are one and the same, operating under two different hats to try to fool us.

How significant is the Jewish vote in Florida anyway? Does it help tilt the race?

Why only 7%? Obama would put them in ovens like Hitler if he could.

Yes, it could. According to a post from a fellow FReeper last night, it is estimated that Jewish voters cast about 8% of the Florida vote. So based on that estimate, if Jews vote 3 to 1 for Obama like they purportedly did the last time, they give him +4 percentage points in the statewide race (6% of the total vote to 2% of the total vote). But if hypotetically the Jewish vote shifts to say 62.5% to 37.5% for Obama, which some are predicting, Obama gets only a net 2 point advantage from them in the total vote. In other words, he will lose two points vs. the GOP compared to his 2008 performance. That's what bothers the 'Rats if the state race is that close.

The poll occurred September 7-9 which eas Friday to Sunday. This spanned Shabbat which means orthodox who do not answer the phone were undercounted. Since orthodox are the core republican jewish constituency, the loss in bozo support is likely greater

Excellent point, hecht. Knowing that the head of the National Jewish Democratic Council masterminded the poll, I wouldn't be surprised if this underrepresentation of the Orthodox was deliberate. And that might not be the only trick that they used to skew the poll results toward Zero.

Unfortunately, other than the dates, we have no details as to how these Jewish voters were selected and interviewed. Wouldn't be surprised if their names and phone numbers came off lists of members of local left-leaning Jewish organizations.

Sept. 7-9 (Friday through Sunday), which as hecht points out in his post # 28, eliminates some Orthodox Jews from participating in the polls and thereby skews the results toward Obama.

As I posted, I wouldn't put it past these people to use other tricks to fudge the results further in Obama's favor.

Veeeerrrrry interesting. I would never have guessed such chicanery, even though it wasn’t very subtle.

Thanks justiceseeker93. Obama should retain the services of the polling firm S. Handedtoyou.

good news. and since the pollsters are stacking their samples to favor the rats, the accurate numbers are likely a greater loss of support.

...not enough! Any Jew who lives with his/her eyes open must vote for Romney, very simple. Those who STILL support Obama are deaf, very dumb and blind.

I don't understand why the majority of Jews are rabid democrats, especially since Netanyahu has utter disdain for the chief (Obama) among them.

I've NEVER witnessed any democrat president have respect for the nation of Israel, concern for their plight as the only true democracy within all of the Middle East, alarm over Israel's constant subjection to missile rockets being fired upon their citizens, suicide bombers getting through their borders, and boisterous threats to their survival by their neighboring political and religious leaders.

The Republican party supports the right of the nation of Israel to exist, supports their protection, respects their citizenry, but most importantly, embraces their God as the One True God.

What is wrong with America's Jews? (in general, there are exceptions, of course)
