Analysis: Romney can still win, but it won't be easy
reuters.com ^ | Sep 21, 2012 | John Whitesides

The last few weeks have been ugly for Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney.

A flat Republican convention, a fumbled response to unrest in the Middle East, reports of discord within his campaign and a secretly taped video of Romney deriding 47 percent of U.S. voters have left his team reeling - and has many Republicans fearing doom in the November 6 election.

There's more.

Democratic President Barack Obama has opened a slight lead over Romney in national polls, and new surveys indicate that Obama has a significant edge where it matters most: in Ohio, Virginia and Florida, the most coveted of nine politically divided "swing" states that are crucial to cobbling together the 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House.

So, seven weeks before the election, is it already over for Mitt Romney?

Not yet. Despite the serial gaffes and the many questions about his campaign, Romney remains within striking range of the president.

The former Massachusetts governor still has time to change the trajectory of the race - even though he has not shown an ability to do so for the past several months, as he has cast Obama as a failure in overseeing a struggling economy.

Good Lord, I can’t stand this biased reporting. No mention of the utter f*** ups in policy Obama has suffered... unbelievably unbalanced reporting. I often look at the media and wonder if we still live in a free country, or it isn’t all an illusion.

During the Reagan campaign (Illinois) around this time our internals showed Reagan well ahead as the MSM polls showed Carter winning....

What Romney should now explain are the reasons why those on fixed incomes must go on food stamps and apply for other “benefits” such as energy assistance etc.

The price of ; goods, services ,food, as well as the cost, use, and type of of energy resources, particularly coal, and oil, have all been driven up by Obama through his endless edicts, use of regulations and prohibitions all designed to change the systems of distribution and use of pleantiful resources to conform to his socialist scheme or ideal. Without any regard to the consequences. After all let US remember “to make an omlet ..”one must break a few eggs” and the one who made that remark and the followers of that ism who repeat it.”

I was talking to a friend that works for the Romney campaign and she told me that Romney's internal polling shows him up over 15%.

Obama and the MSM knows this and that's why they are pushing these fake MSM polls, to try and discourage Romney voters.

This is good. They no longer care that they appear ridiculous to the thinking public.

For those of us who, in a perverse way, miss Bagdad Bob, we can now sit back and smile as Obama’s empire goes down.

This is going to be fun to watch when Obozo is crushed on election night. I still think he is going to go down worse than Carter did...maybe even approaching McGovern. Of course, this assumes that they don’t pull off a Lake County, Indiana, miracle where dead people not only vote, they vote twice!

What a dismal future a Republican loss would mean to this already reeling populace.

With half of the population in the tank for the worst president we’ve ever had as well as being the worst leader in history, a win by this grinning ape would mean utter chaos.

The Republican Party would be dead, but what arises out of the ashes would be a strong, willful right-wing party that would take no enemies. It would cease ‘reaching across the aisle for some pitiful solution known as consensus or bi-partisanship which in my humble estimation would be good!

The most repulsive faction supporting this phony are 855 sycophant staffers that crowd about the White Hut and comprise the dregs of American society. Their numbers are larded with homosexuals and other assorted wierdos.

Think Madrid, 1936.

You can stop after the first sentence.

During this “ugly” three weeks, Gallup has the race tied.

Lol, they go beyond the three weeks and say Romney has shown an inability to do anything for the last several months!

That covers all kinds of periods when he was leading.

Also how brain dead do you have to be, to write about either candidate and ignore 3 huge debates fast approaching?

"I can't stand this biased reporting"

It's not reporting, it's propaganda. We do not have a media in this country. It doesn't exist. Mitt needs to understand this first and foremost if he wants to win.

He has to get his own message out. He can't expect the propagandists for the DNC to do anything for him.

He can win, but, he has to do his best to become "the Great Communicator".

Maybe should spend some time listening to the "Great Communicators" of our time- Rush, Glenn Beck, Hannity, Levine, exc... for examples of how to do this.

He has made some good speeches, and has shown ability- he just needs to keep going with it.

And we all need to pray for him too.
