US Prepares for Riots, Buys 1.2 Billion Bullets
Israel National News ^ | 9/19/2012 | Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

U.S. Homeland Security is preparing for an all-out “American Spring” rebellion and has bought 1.2 billion bullets for counterterrorist snipers.

---------------------

“It is the type of ammunition and not necessarily the quantity that is troubling,” James Smith Prepper Podcast was quoted as saying.

“All of the sniper grade ammunition is being used by trained, or in-the-process-of-being-trained snipers,” wrote Smith. Adding up the number of lethal bullets tallies a potential 135,384 kills for the snipers, based on U.S. Army and Marine figures from the Vietnam War, when soldiers used 1.3 rounds of ammunition for each verified kill.

Yes, I do think they know the difference. And if it stirs up a panic, no, they probably don’t care.

Echoing 2111USMC - Savage 10/110 or Rem 700 or probably Win 70.

I’ve got a Savage - “accepted wisdom” is that they’re not quite as accurate as Rem or Win, but noticeably cheaper. And since they’re cheaper, you can buy more ammunition to practice more.

.30 cal or better.

Heavier barrel is preferable.

Get a half-way decent scope.

Sorry, that should be 200 Thousand — NOT 200 Million rounds.

The RFQ for .308 is more recent than the RFQ for .40 ammo.

168K of .308 is a drop in the bucket.

One billion .40? That's a lot, and me not owning a single .40 at all.

I suppose I'll have to acquire one, should the need arise.

I still haven’t seen a story say they are ordering cartridges.

That comment does not serve you well.

People say "bullets" when they mean "ammunition". The orders and deliveries are for ammunition. Lots of ammunition. Delivery dates prior to November 2012, for lots of that ammunition.

The annual purchase quantities for many agencies are orders of magnitude larger than historical usage levels - in fact the annual civilian agency purchases are now larger than what the military buys to fight hot wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The agencies are also now starting to buy more weapons. I guess they have figured out that they will need more guns if they are going to shoot more ammunition.

Oddly enough, many departments are seeing actual cuts in training budgets and available range time is at bare qualification minimums for armed agents.

We can certainly hope that the new inventory will molder away in storage somewhere.

I went to a gun show today in Indiana, which was attended by huge crowds. But I was disheartened to see that there were no signs urging patrons to vote for Romney, or at least signs stressing how Obama will be bad for our country. I remember in 2008 how many signs were posted throughout the gun show on how Obama would be a disaster for us.

I talked with some of the senior citizen gun owners there and many told me that they could not vote for either Romney or Obama and intended to stay home on election day. The NRA is ‘all in’ for this election but apparently it does not matter to these seniors. I was told such things as: “Romney will tax the middle class. Romney will cut our benefits - All of the usual Obama scare the seniors propaganda talking points, which are working even better now that Obama is using the line about how Romney does not care about the 47 percent.

Sadly, I fear that it does not look good for us voting Obama out office. There will be no going back after he is re-elected.

Why would SNAP cards stop working? EMP attack?

I think a more likely cause of the cards not working will be because of Ben Bernake, not a high-tech bomb of some sort...

We’re also stupidly still burning a lot of food, which does nothing to help food prices. Just to add to the fun.

More likely that people stop taking Bernake's funny money...

I heard the ammo was .40JHP, not .308. You have any info that might correct my impression?

Uh, this article?

I once heard a cop mention a 45mm caliber pistol. It was a documentary on the North Hollywood Bank of America robbery a few years back. He sure sounded authoritative and serious about that caliber.
