Todd Akin: Claire McCaskill was more ‘ladylike’ in 2006
Washington Post ^ | 27 September 2012 | Rachel Weiner

Posted on 09/27/2012 12:41:46 PM PDT by Lorianne

Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) reminds Republicans why they were hoping he would drop out of the U.S. Senate race against incumbent Claire McCaskill (D).

“I think we have a very clear path to victory, and, apparently, Claire McCaskill thinks we do, too, because she was very aggressive at the debate, which was quite different than it was when she ran against Jim Talent,” Akin told the Kansas City Star on Thursday.

“She had a confidence and was much more ladylike [in 2006], but in the debate on Friday she came out swinging, and I think that’s because she feels threatened.”

Fact is he is still very much in this race, most believe it to be a horse race at this point.

And if Akin called it a "horse race," the Romney RINOs would circle around, wag their fingers and say he mustn't compare McCaskill to a horse. She's a very ladylike donkey.

If he said nothing wrong, then there is nothing to worry about. He’ll win easy!

Personal attacks indicate a lack of ammo.

Kinda like making the declaration that it will lose women voters with nothing to back it up.

Scott Brown could come out and call Warren a lying feminist and that would be truth

I don't know about you, but if he did, I might vote for him.

If he came out and said she was a LYING COMMIE bent on instilling SOCIALISM just so she can retain power, I'd send him money.

I already said, I don’t like her, don’t like her politics.

Do you think I’m the one who wrote the Washington Post (and 50 other articles on Google search) on this topic?

Akin apparently has run-on-at-the-mouth disease, saying things that just don’t need to be said, aren’t relevant, and DO NOT HELP HIM WIN.

We all say things that don’t “need” to be said. That’s what makes us free human beings. Not a crime, not immoral, nothing wrong with it.

I think it ill serves the people who supported him with the idea that he'd stay on message to maximize the chance of a win.

Maybe you’re in Missouri, I’m not, but I doubt “ladylike” is an insult there.

Does it help him win?

This guy is a liability.

I don't see why when he's speaking the truth. If he's twisting some Democrats' panties, then all the better.

Things have changed, not for the better. But they have changed, and something like this just adds to the impression that Akin’s a clueless fossil.

SO.... what should Akin have done? Descend to the level of the DEMS and called McCaskill a lying whore ?

How about not going off-message to talk about whether his opponent is "ladylike"?

Thanks for the response.

If I did, they would identify me, which would not be good.

If you think that couldn't ID you if 'they' wanted to, then you might consider whether you are as 'well-educated' as you think. : )

And no, I don’t want to see YOUR “bona fides” either.

I wasn't going to offer them. I wasn't the one implying that I was 'smarter' than Aiken. And thanks for correcting me on "bona fides". I left out the 'space', and I should know better.

Now... how does Aiken stating the 'truth' make him a moron ?

I have zero use for the self righteous moderates who wag their fingers at conservatives yet are so pure themselves that they will destroy a conservative to help a democrat win. Then they’ll sit back and say “See we told you so”. Not one of them has the courage to come out and tell us filthy conservatives that they don’t want us in their party. At least George Romney had the stones to come right out and call for conservatives to be evicted from his party.

Nothing but lying, manipulative, bottom feeding scum who are even worse than liberals.

Oh, I get it. Do you think the media didn’t hear about this comment and won’t make anything of it? If it doesn’t appear at FR then it’s not in the media spin cycle and won’t have any impact whatsoever?

The media is the only reason Democrats ever win any elections at all. What's your point? You seriously think you can appease the media and that they wouldn't attack every single Republican candidate with everything they've got? The only thing that matters is whether it's enough to change the public's mind. This obviously won't be.

saying things that just don’t need to be said, aren’t relevant,

Oh.... you mean like Claire McCaskill is a lying communist who was picked by Obama to ram through the (not) FREE (lack of) HealthCare plan?

The plan where prices are jacked SKY HIGH and the elderly are denied treatment because it takes money away from the 'kitty' which will be used to provide campaign money to DEM politicians ?

No, like "was much more ladylike." Did you not read the article?

Did I say I was trying to appese the media
NO

All I did was post an article that is already all over the news (and post my opinion that it was only a matter of time before Akin said another dumb thing) and people cannot take it.

Well guess what. I didn’t make the dumb comment and I’m not in the media so I wasn’t responsible for reporting it.

Is this another example of the FR ostrtich brigade not wanting to see what others are reading? If so, then just ignore this article and pretend Akin never said it and pretend it is not in the news.

That works for me.

What did Akin say that HELPS HIM WIN ?

I feel the same way every time mitt opens his mouth. But rather than devote myself to making post after post on a thread bashing him, I'll probably just suck it up and support him.

It would be good if you mittbots could do the same for Conservatives.

Powder..patch..ball FIRE!

Akin is going to win Missouri.

Mckaskill has tried everything she can do and still is only a couple of points ahead.

Akin ran his first commercial today showing us the Claire nobody likes and it is good. Uses her own words to say if you don’t like me fire me...

Mckaskills campaign is besides themselves, the her campaign manager was on the news last night almost crying he was so frustrated.

Blunt, Gingrich etal... have stepped in.

Romney leads in MO by +7 and trending.

You didn't say, "saying things that just don’t need to be said, aren’t relevant,"? Must've been a different Lorianne.
