The Real Real Reason Romney is Losing
The New American ^ | 02 October 2012 | Selwyn Duke

...Republicans are befuddled when they see Obama leading among voters. One common explanation is that the polls are rigged. And while they’re no doubt flawed and the race likely closer than they indicate, it’s unreasonable to think Obama isn’t at least slightly ahead of Mitt Romney; moreover, if Romney’s internal polls told a different story, he’d certainly trumpet them.

...The other common explanation is that Romney is a poor candidate, too ideologically weak, too stiff, too blue-blooded, and too hard to connect with. But to whom are we comparing him?But this is scary to consider. It’s more comforting to talk about Romney’s or the GOP’s faults, which are easy enough to find, and believe our problems lie in our wanting political stars, not ourselves. “Why, all we need is the right candidate — a true conservative! We need bold leadership in the GOP.” Or it could be, “We need a vibrant third party.” It’s a nice dream. But “Where are all the leaders?” is the wrong question; it should be, “Where are all the followers?”

But Obama is a huge problem.

Zactly. I look at it this way: Germany was in DEEP doo-doo even before Hitler. But in the end, Hitler was a huge problem for them. Especially their Jews.

Obama is the reason I bothered to vote in the 2008 election and will vote in the upcoming one. It’s gonna be bad - very bad - no matter who wins. But leaving obama in really could be even more catastrophic in the end than the German blunder.

If one only looks at the average American’s response to hitler in his early days you’ll see what I mean. Many promenent Americans were big fans and thought he was really turning things around.

At first.

I can’t believe it, although you are probably right. Again, who’s failure is that? Poor brainwashed zombies who don’t know any better or fully able native adults who allowed commies to fester in your educational institutions?

The latest polls predict under 30% of the turnout will be from Republicans.

And we are supposed to accept that as a reasonable assumption just because they say so.

I swear to God that if tomorrow you saw 100,000 leftists saying the sky was yellow, half the “conservatives” would say, no, it’s definitely not yellow, but it’s gotta be greenish, at least...it’s so extreme to say it’s blue! We’ll be ridiculed!

Of course, it was the failure of those who allowed the institution of our ridiculous immigration policies. But the fact is that the majority of the people entering our country vote for socialists. They are a more proximal cause than the actions of those who made mistakes 50 years ago.

Thanks for your kind reply. I am a little amazed at how much your situation mirrors our own.

We have 10 acres, 3/4 of which is wooded. There’s a running creek at the bottom of the hill and a large creek about a half-mile down the road. We are also close to the Delaware River. We have a deep well and private septic. (I have been looking at hand pumps and generators lately.)

Our parcel is next to a huge state park where they occasionally hold “deer hunts” because the deer population gets out of control. There’s plenty of other critters around, too, although I can’t see eating anything other than the ducks and turkeys, if we have to. We also have a vegetable garden and a 2200 btu cast-iron wood stove with a cooktop grate and a removable ashtray so we never have to let the fire die. Of course, we have all the free fuel (mostly ash trees) we will ever need for the stove. I’ve got rifles, guns, ammo, and big dogs.

And by the way, I just now walked back from the chicken coop with three eggs. It’s cooling down around here these days and the egg production will be dropping off soon.

I can’t say we are totally prepared for economic apocalypse, but we are ahead of the game, I think.

FRegards,
LH

““Not exactly uplifting, but it’s what we need to know.”
....It’s what we need to take to heart.”

Excellent piece, I read it through.

If what Mr. Duke is saying is true, then it’s time for conservative Euros to stop arguing with each other about what must be done to “save the country”, and time to start thinking about “where do we (as conservatives and traditionalist Euros) go from here?”

Mr. Romney may win, or he may lose, but at some point in the not-too-distant future (the state of Texas will be the key here, when its exploding demographic cohort of Hispanic babies come-of-voting-age) we’re going to reach a point where it becomes numerically impossible for a Republican (forget “conservative Republican, I’m talking about ANY Republican) to win the presidency.

At that point, the entire country may resemble New York, Illinois, or California — “one-party” states where conservatives live, to be sure, but who no longer have enough numbers to have a significant political voice. A political party with permanent minority status.

We are seeing the nation trend towards that today, with a huge cohort that no longer seems to care about traditional American values or freedoms. To them, “freedom” means a free Obamaphone, or endless recharges of their EBT cards.

In a nation where conservatives and traditionalists no longer have the numbers to influence policy, how will they keep their own traditions and heritage alive?

FY 2007 last Bush and GOP Congress. 2011 Last Obama and a Democrat Congress

If Obama is re-eelected by 2016 we will be so far over the fiscal cliff there will be no climbing back

Obama added planks favoring Gay Marriage and taxpayer funded abortion on demand up to birth to the 2012 Democrat Party platform.

By contrast the 2012 GOP platform is the most Conservative one in their history.

No matter how much you hate Romney, no one with a brain would refuse to see the stark difference between Romney and Obama on social issues.

With Romney Social Conservatives have a seat at the table, Obama will actively promote everything Soc Cons are against.

By 2016 everything Soc Cons claim to be so passionate about will be legislated. As Roe V Wade should of taught Soc Cons, once something is legislated it become almost impossible to undo.

Once 2016 rolls around the Judiciary will be so packed with Obamabots anything Soc Cons DID manage to legislate would simply be undone by Judicial Fiat.

If Obama is reelected there will be nothing left to win.

After another 4 year term of Obama the USA will be a European style 1 party state with a state directed media, that will allow just enough political window dressing from a "loyal opposition" to keep their peon classes passive

I think you are wasting your energy on wrong target. The horror of the situation is that your own compatriots, born and raised here for generations, are turning against you and your values. Immigration problem, real or perceived, is fixable, given ability and desire. Turning your kids back on track is much harder. Immigrants are not to blame for Obama - there were too few participating. The culprits are of your own home-brew. The coalition of parasites and perverts was not shipped here from abroad - you grew it here.

Yeah, he supported tax hikes and signed an abortion bill that resulted in a million more abortions. Those are liberal positions,

And...oh yeah...he was once a big supporter of FDR and the New Deal.

His victory was assured the minute Romney was the nominee. Romney, like McCain never stood a chance.

The article makes a lot of erroneous statements.

You cannot put the blame for our current situation in the US on Romney, he simply had nothing to do with it.

Newt Gingrich? Dream on. Michelle Bachman had a better chance than Newt. Newt can speak wonderfully but the press would eat him up and the left would tear him apart because of his personal life and his history in congress. He is damaged goods even if he is the smartest Republican around right now.

The problem we have is our system. It was flawed from the start to end up this way, it is inevitable. The people have learned that they they can vote themselves largess from the treasury and they will do it untill the golden egg laying goose is cooked. When that happens we will start over again.

In my opinion there are a couple of things that we did really wrong that caused our demise. First and formost, the 17th amendment to the constitution guaranteed our collapse. We were at one time a group of states federated together for the common good. The 17th amendment made our government of mob rule. It is the majority of the people instead of the majority of states that hold all the power. It used to be shared, now it isn't. The states are now just like counties used to be, they are nothing.

The second destroying angel if you will is our education system.

Educators never get to live in the real world, they go to school where life is utopia and graduate to being charge of the utopia. Never understanding what a real job is has led our teachers to teaching rubbish and feel good education. Educators feel their problems are the only important problems and their unions have made them a force to be reckoned with. They have turned our children in to kids with a mind full of much as Limbaugh would say.

The last destroying angel I would refer to is related to the 2nd, the press. If you took all the reporters and newspaper people, TV news people and radio people and put them in the bottom of Mariana trench it would be a good start.

Romney is not the problem, he is the symptom. He is the best we can get right now who would at least stand a chance to beat the mooches of the world. Obama represents the 47% who are the moochers and the other 53% are not a block but a very disparate group some who want only one or two things and will not vote for a candidate who does not conform to their will. We have to stop that!

If there is a chance to save the Union, the USA as we knew it in the past there is only one way and that is for everyone who is not one of the mooches to vote together and stand behind whatever candidate the majority of the nonmochers have put before us. In the last election it was McLame, many of us held our nose and voted for him. Before that it was Bush again many of us had to hold our noses but it was better than the alternative, I think. Before that it was the rudderless Bush 1. We have not had good choices. When the good choices come along they get defamed by those of ous that don't agree 100%.

During a primary it is good to do all we can to vett our candidates, afterwards we need to get behind them whomever it is. If we are to survive we must do this.

The TEA Party has done more to change the face of congress than any one event in my lifetime. It is wonderful, they are a force of good I hope we continue to use it wisely.

We have to cut back government dependence, a few more percentage points and it is over and nothing will save us except ruin, and that is where the left wants to take us, or violence. God forbid either.

Yeah, he supported tax hikes and signed an abortion bill that resulted in a million more abortions. Those are liberal positions,

And froze government hiring, cracked down on protesters, and pushed for capital punishment. Taken all together it does not add up to "Reagan had a liberal record".

And...oh yeah...he was once a big supporter of FDR and the New Deal.

Once - decades before his presidency. Your desperate attempt to equate Reagan and Mittens is a fail.

Buddy, why debate the obvious? It’s clearly both. But how can you deny that immigration is a huge problem when 70+% of new immigrants vote for Democrats after being naturalize?

The fact that you’re taking this personally is blinding you to the truth. So, look, again, I’m glad you’re an exception and welcome you into the fold. But stop making it about you. Not everything is about YOU.

There is little in your post that I - or the author of the article - disagree with. The whole point is that Romney is not the problem.

However, the difference between you and me (I presume) is that you think there is really a human way out of this. At least you said, “there is only one way and that is for everyone who is not one of the mooches to vote together and stand behind whatever candidate the majority of the nonmochers have put before us”.

I agree, which is why I think there is no way out of this. The electorate votes their wallets. And the austerity needed to even turn numbers positive at all would be so draconian as to ensure the failed candidacy of any man that attempted to run on it.

It leaves us with this: We are in this for the full ride to the bottom. Only when there is no other choice will austerity happen. And I am not just talking about the US.

I think we are headed for the worst time in the history of mankind.

This is a really great article. It puts where we are in perspective. The perspective isn't pretty!

We now stand staring into the political and cultural abyss resulting from that long, long, universal march of the victory of sin and moral dissipation which is the result of man acting on his own to perfecct and rule himseslf, without seeking the help, guidance, and blessings of God, through Jesus Christ.

Alas, we are no more special than the rest of our earthly kin. We cannot (nor should we expect) a mere politician or group of them to save us. Just as this nation was birthed and blessed by God, we cannot expect it to survive and be blessed without Him.

It is not that He has left us. It is that we as a nation have left Him. The consequences of that will be cruel to all of us. If we will not allow ourselves to be led and controlled by God, we will be inevitably be led and controlled by tyrants.

Bill Clinton would win in a landslide if he were allowed to run again, and what he did is 10 times worse than anything Gingrich supposedly did.

That issue was a red herring to try and derail Gingrich and push through the moderate insider (sure to lose) pick Romney.
