The Obama Myth Will Not Survive the Debates
AmericanThinker.com ^ | 10/4/2012 | Anthony G. Dispenza

The fraudulence of Obama's presidency is so great that only an analogy can bring us close to sufficiently expressing that fraud. In the movie The Gladiator, Roman Emperor Commodus abuses his power to rule over the people with an iron fist and to ensure that he is viewed favorably, while the truly great man in Maximus is initially thought to be a mere slave and far inferior to Commodus. When confronted with the man himself, however, the Coliseum crowds come to adore the brave gladiator, and Commodus' advantage of holding favor by hiding behind the power of the state is diminished. Eventually Commodus has no choice but to engage the truly superior Maximus face-to-face, and despite cheating, Commodus loses. The last four years and their culmination in last night's debate have been quite similar.

*snip*

The University of Denver served as the Coliseum, the people's Maximus was found in Mitt Romney, and our Commodus-like-president had nowhere to hide. And while we slave-like peasants -- as we conservatives are viewed by Obama -- knew the strength of our fellow gladiator, the blinded masses had their eyes opened for the first time. Just as Commodus, the privileged son of the Emperor, never had to actually fight, Obama has never before had to reconcile his view of the world with reality. From community organizer to "constitutional scholar," to absentee Senator to the presidency, Obama has lived his entire life in a world of mere ideas without ever having to depend on the truth of those ideas.

I thought it was a good debate because they both ignored the moderator. Romney even more so than Obama.

Great article. Thanks for posting.

I just asked a guy at work if he watched the debate. He told me he is the son of Dems, he has always voted Dem, but he really liked what he heard from Romney. He shared that he wants to keep more of what he has earned and is taking a close look at Romney.

I hope millions of others have the same epiphany.

Candy Crowley is likely being coached by David Axlerod at this moment. She will be prepared to cut Romney off while allowing Obama extra time. If Romney tries to talk over her, the way he did Lehrer the media will make it appear he is beating up on women. Obama will be aggressive bit stick to very specific talking pints. It isn’t hard to guess what the questions will be in a foreign policy debate.

Hopefully Romney will simply ignore them again and respond straight to the voters.

Yes, he did a very good job of not taking much pap from Lehrer. I doubt he will let the next liberal moderators shunt him. The moderators will learn it is not their debate.

OMG that is my favorite movie of all times!! Just a little side note....IF 60million folk saw last night’s debate that WAS HUGH! The second debate won’t matter as much as the first always leave the biggest impression! By the time the next one comes rolling in the audience will be smaller! The vice p debate will also have a HUGH audience solely because they want to see Paul. BUT beware, the spin has already started out there. USA today is already making a big thing about the BIG BIRD statement and the Huff is saying that Romney did so and so...sore losers!!

One can only imagine the kind of drumming he gets from other heads of state in face-to-face meetings, like Netanyahu. No wonder he avoids them so much.

An even better movie analogy is the fight between Rocky and the Russian chap Drago in which eventually the crown began cheering for Rocky rather than their own fighter.

theses = these lol. I guess the post should be rephrased as: “The 1984 Pres. debates prove these idiot's theses is wishful thinking.”

Good post. Most of us here didn't need an introduction, since we knew exactly who and what obama is.

However, for that other 47% or more of the country, that introduction was long past overdue.

After all the hype and negative commercials, meeting that Romney last night was very refreshing, especially meeting him as he was side by side with the progressive messiah.

For the first time in four years, I can see reason for some hope. We just might survive obama!

What struck me from the debate was the demeanor of both Obama and Romney. I envisioned a son (Obama)coming into the home and telling his father (Romney) about the tasks he had just completed. The work had been difficult and tiring and it wasn’t done like it might have/should have been done but it was the best the son could do. The father recognized the plight of the son but started telling the son where mistakes were made and that in the future such mistakes could not/would not be acceptable. I have such memories-been there.

I watched that very movie last night before the debate (have seen it many times).

Your analogy is accurate except that Obama never laid a glove on Romney.;-)

I knew sooner or later today I’d start seeing the Romney bashing start up again.

This place is as negative as DU - without the F word being thrown around.

They protected and built up Obama so much, that all Romney had to do was be ‘himself’ plus poke at Obama’s empty record, and Obama would quickly deflate like a popped balloon.

I’ve already cast my vote for Romney in early voting, but I have no confidence that he will undo much of anything that Obuma has done, he simply is not the bold Conservative needed for correction. And, of course, Romney will need the cooperation of Congress. But, if we are ridded of the muzzie communist traitor in the WH, that’s a huge positive.

I knew sooner or later today I’d start seeing the Romney bashing start up again.

In what universe is what izzatzo posted "bashing"?
