The media is trying to paint the debate disaster as Obama just sucking without giving Mitt any credit. They don’t want to admit that one of the reasons Obama sucked was because Romney KICKED HIS A$$.

What was the line when Nixon was falling? Parody: If he lost the New Yorker, he's toast.

I'm starting to smell a really serious sandbagging job. There's been just too much MSM attention on Zero's lousy performance. My bet is the setup is for the Town Hall debate, with the entire crowd loaded with Slave Party operatives asking 'thoughtful questions about Romney's claims that are on the minds of every American,' or some such.

I am sure the Romney team has considered this and sure they are ready for everything and anything.

There are some things for which you can prepare all you want and there will still be damage. Remember: Obama can lie at will and for the most part will get away with it. My guess is not only will the questions be prepared, they'll be in a scripted order. Zero will have the whole thing teed up as if on the teleprompter. The key is to disrupt the game early to force him to drop his game plan, else the show will be too transparent. We'll see how Romney does.

The empty chair (as opposed to a mere empty podium) is a direct reference to Clint Eastwood’s speech at the RNC, which was roundly criticized by the left (and even some on the right). How times have changed! The pressure on Obama and his diehards is immense. The bogus jobs report has not has the intended effect. It is nothing more than another phony poll. Romney/Ryan signs are cropping up everywhere. Obama is no longer “cool” to all but a few misguided fools. The People can’t wait for the next debate. Obama is feeling pressure that he never felt before. Mitt should have a field day during the foreign policy debate. (Note to Romney campaign: Killing Bin Laden is NOT a foreign policy. It is a strategic objective that was in place since 2001).

The cover picture seems to be the New Yorker editor’s way of saying, I do not like Barack Obama anymore; I fervently hope he does not win re-election; and, if my liberal friends want to call me a racist, or my liberal bosses want to fire me over this, go ahead, make my day.

If I could get Clint to sign the cover
That would be priceless.

What's Damnable About Obama's Hampton Speech

Damnable was yanked from the editorial sidebar. I guess that title was too tough for a family forum. The next link was RealClearPolitics' title for the same trenchant essay. Could somebody try to post the last link in the editorial sidebar for the rest of the forum?

Some noteworthy articles about politics, foreign or military affairs, IMHO, FReepmail me if you want on or off my list.

P.S. If you moved since your last election, know a family member or friend who needs to register to vote or apply for an absentee ballot, then there may be deadlines coming very soon. They are in NY.

That was LBJ, talking about Walter Cronkite.

IIRC, both campaigns are given an equal number of tickets. Not sure that holds true for questions and/or questioners.

Yep. When Cronkite came out against the Vietnam war, that was the tipping point for LBJ. There wasn’t much point in running, if Cronkite wasn’t with him.

I think we may be seeing a similar tipping point for Obama, as regards some members of the MSM. He doesn’t have a hope of being re-elected without their wind in his sails.

Actually, it probably won’t matter anyway. They’re not as influential as they were in Cronkite’s day, and the country is sick to death of Obie. I don’t know if anyone could convince the people to give Obama a second chance.

IMHO, it's a real up your's from his biographer!

I can't believe this allowed in liberal, leftist New York publication.

There are certain rules to follow.

Although they did this excellent piece on Rick Rescorla:

I was one of those that questioned Clint Eastwood's debate appearance but I'm beginning to come around on that.

Much hand-wringing is being done over the upcoming "town forum" debate but I think Romney will do just fine.
