Contract was signed, bank terms agreed to, sucks to be the dealer! I hope the customer enjoys his 2.2 million dollars!

How did he get arrested. Couldn’t he have just showed the contract to the police? (In before the “cops were busy shooting the dog” comment, in 3 ... 2 ...)

How come this was not treated as a civil suit issue? Last time I complained of a dealer stealing my money I was told by the cops that it was a civilian court issue. Whatever.

Hmmmm, seems the buyer knew they screwed up but was tight lipped. What would you have done? I have to believe the buyer knew what his final price was supposed to be. You don’t sign a contract for a vehicle without knowing the bottom line. Would you sign it if it was $5600 too much? Doubt it....
Looks like some of the sales staff at the dealership stepped in it also...BIG TIME.

Yep, A contract is a contract, and Brad Anderson needs to do time for a false police report.

"I can't tell you how I plan to fix it, but it is my intention to make it right,"

Sawyer should make them buy him a Ford.

“It is my plan to let him keep the $5,600 and to make Mr. Sawyer right.”

You’re going to LET him keep the $5,600?? LOL! That’s mighty nice of you, you swine. It isn’t yours in the first place!

But you ARE going to make it right, whether you like it or not, hopefully about $2.2 million right.

I'd love be in charge of advertising for competing dealerships in the area.

'Come on down to Bob Smith Ford, where the prices are low and customers are not arrested.'

The dealership was insane for thinking that ANYONE would come back and sign another, more expensive contract. I certainly wouldn’t. They messed up on the price. Happens. Maybe they could have fired the salesman. But to get the police involved is absurd. I hope this hurts them.

The only thing Mr. Ellmer needs to say to Mr. Sawyer is “Hello, partner.”

At a minimum, he should get to keep the SUV that he bought, free and clear, and get a free Corvette ZR1 to park right next to it.

It’s a Chevy dealer. The owner will just send the bill to the government.

If one uses, an ATM and you ask for $1000, and it gives you $10000....regardless, you don't own that money, if you refuse to return the funds, they you can expect the bank will recover, by whatever means available....in this case; I expect the dealership accounting, picked up the error, and told the sales, to recover the auto, repeated calls to the owner, result in the “kiss off” by the owner...hereupon, the sales department, angered by the owners response, declared the auto stolen.....as a fly on wall heard: “we will fix that SOB, call the cops”

“An apology is not enough,” she said.”

I think that’s lawyer talk meaning instead of eleven dealerships owned it will soon be ten.

A car deal is a negotiated deal. It’s all about the negotiation. The bottom line of negotiation is the contract. If you negotiate a price and sign a contract that’s the end of it. The whole premise of the dealership is ridiculous. How about you buy a house and close the deal, then the builder says oops, mistake $20k more please or I’ll call the cops. Or you buy a new car for a negotiated price, sign the contract and a few days later they show up with the sticker price and demand the difference. If the dealership were to display the actual price they will sell the car for they might have a case, but you’ll never find a dealership with a “real” price.

What would happen if a customer returned to the dealership and asked for some money back claiming they paid too much? It seems this company thinks they can do the same to customers and lie to the police to have them arrested. The person making that false claim to the police should be arrested for making the false claim. $2.2 million for lying to the police and attempting to use the force of government to ruin a person’s life? Make that $10 million as a starting point, 25 years to life in prison for the offending liars, and close that dealership. Screwing with civil rights should never be a risk worth trying.
