PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is recovering ground in the critical swing state of Ohio as he rises in the polls and crowd numbers swell after his strong debate performance last week against President Barack Obama.

Despite pundits and pollsters dismissing Romney's chances in the state in late September, the Republican is now either tied or just barely trailing Obama in Ohio ahead of the next presidential debate on Tuesday night. . .

At an event with thousands of Ohioans on Friday night, Romney boasted of "a growing crescendo of enthusiasm." He has spoken to several large audiences in Ohio this week. . .

Interesting they don’t mention Romney ahead in OH in a few other polls. Just slightly behind or tied. gmafb

Don't forget in those polls the Democrats are getting a plus 3-5!

So, if he is tied, he is really ahead.

I have a funny feeling Obama’s handlers will try to coach him to be more lively & engaging but it will probably backfire as it did for Biden for certain.

Since this is a State poll the demographics are properly done as a breakdown within the State itself and not based on a National breakdown.

I don't know what the D/R/I % are in Ohio but it could well be there are more Dems then Reps registered. That said being registered one way or the other is not a guarantee of how one will vote.

I read that Ohio is more Independent, then either Democrat or Republican.

If that is the case, it is likely that the Independents will break heavily against Obama since they usually go against the incumbent.

I live in southern Ohio and the people that did admit voting for him last time shy away for even discussing politics. We live in a small town and the number of RR signs to O signs is about 10:1. It would probably be more, but the GOP headquarters is is always out of them. They have said they will get 100 at a time and by the time they call everyone back that wanted one they are out.

Well that is encouraging!

I think the MSM is going to be surprised this Nov.6 like they were in 2010.

They don't understand the intensity of the feelings against this adminstration.

Romney just needs to Highlight certain facts to Counter Obamas stilted Numbers and facts,7.8 percent Unemployment? Actually the U6 number is 14.7 percent, actually between 14.7 and 22%.The Majority of jobs being created are PART TIME,you cant pay for 5.00 a Gallon gas with Part time work and support a Family.
Saved the auto industry? With the Chevy Volt? GM still owes the tax payers Billions of Dollars, the taxpayers subsidize the Manufacture of the Volt, the Purchase of the Volt with the Tax brake and the only purchases being made are by the Government!Thats the Taxpayers buying the Lemons, Its the same thing we are doing with the Debt,we are buying our own debt by Printing more worthless paper dollars.

Yesterday Romney gave a speech in Lebanon, Ohio. Great speech and great crowd. Scroll down to see a photo of the rally—11,000 came out to hear Romney.

Let's see him start laughing when Romney brings up Benghazi, the dead Ambassador, the dead Seals, and the effort to cover up the fact that this all happened because they left them unprotected in a war zone and exposed them to ememy attack. Let's see him put a happy face on the lie that this was caused by some internet video.

Romney signs are hard to get here in Pa. I guess I’ll have to use an empty chair.

I believe the headline is out of date. Romney closed the gap some time ago. Now he is opening up a new one.

There is a person on Twitter who claimed the crowd size was wrong the photo was photo shopped. I guess he is full of sh*t.

Who ever said it was photoshopped is an idiot. In his speech Romney said he was amazed at the size of the crowd and that it even extended beyond the back media platform. Libs are in a panic.
