Lima, Peru (CNN) -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the buck stops with her when it comes to who is to blame for security ahead of a deadly assault on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.
"I take responsibility" for what happened on September 11, Clinton said in an interview with CNN's Elise Labott soon after arriving in Lima, Peru, for a visit. The interview, one of a series given to U.S. television networks Monday night, was the first she has given about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.
Clinton insisted President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are not involved in security decisions.
"I want to avoid some kind of political gotcha," she added, noting that it is close to the election.
The attack killed Chris Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and three other Americans at the consulate

well we would get a bunch of wild varying stories all right. But these dems have no problem lying under oath... particularly since they can make any word mean whatever they want it to mean at any point in time
Could Hillary be a 100 percent Marxist and know there is something bigger than her and Obama? She has gone right along with all this Muslim stuff the past 3 years. My point is this, possibly it is not so much about political preservation as it is pushing everything along as far as she can, so that the next big worldwide transition can take place.

The Romney campaign should in no way let O off the hook about Benghazigate tomorrow night. Romney needs to hammer/corner him & point out how rogue & amateur his administration is. All of us know who we’re voting for & it amazes me that there are still undecided voters out there but this is Romney’s moment to hammer home how unsafe another 4 years will be with O/Jarrett running the show.

So, why did he go to Vegas the next day after he knew what happened? Did he think ‘ if I go on like normal, nobody will make a big deal about it? His behavior shows he’s part of it. If he he was surprised and gave a hoot, he would have reacted with contempt towards the terrorists. Instead he goes golfing and to Vegas. It happened in real time via video, he would have been told of the attack, not protest... instead they came up with an elaborate story, involving Rice, etc.. which cannot be contrived so quickly.
