Only thing I can think is that, with Benghazi emails coming out, Trump is giving Obama one more thing to deal with.
Obama will never release his records.
Trump gives 10/31/12 deadline. Obama will not release records and will get contrary with Trump. Maybe some people will change their minds on Obama on election day only a few days off.
Obama will look poorly with his non-release and Trump will needle him with a thousand cuts.
I absolutely love Trump. He is getting nailed on Twitter...but he is like the Honeybadger.

2) Obama has spent millions hiding it all.
3) Obama CANNOT comply.
4) Obama refuses to help a charity with 5 million.
5) The MSM can run from this, but cannot hide
6) Where is the downside to this ?
I am hanging in with you, friend!!! Why? Trump forces Obama to respond, or....not respond at all. Obama looks foolish either way. Beyond the rejection of the Trump offer by Obama, Trump may have a hidden ace in the hole, and already have those college and passport records in hand. When the Obamabots laugh and ridicule Trump, come, October 31, 2012, Trump just releases all the records and destroys America hater Obama overnight.
It is not what was expected, but it’s not so bad either.
It is not sleazy and will not hurt Romney in that manner. It may, in fact, make bambi a bit uncomfortable.
Trump trumped it up to bring attention to his offer - what’s wrong with that? It worked.

I’m no fan of the Donald, but this doesn’t smell right. This feels more like a fall back plan once you’ve committed and your Plan A had to be pulled off the table.

Unfortunately, it takes focus off what voters should be really thinking about/focused on as they decide how to vote in a few days....jobs and the economy.

t fully seems that Trump has these records already in his possession, but wants to punish Obama by making him disclose his records to the public himself.
Trump's October surprise will be to release the college records on October 31, just 6 days before the election so Barack has *no time* to respond.
I.e., could it be that Trump "pulled" the rumored news about the 12-yr old Obama divorce filing, after pressure by the Romney campaign to cut it out?
That is pure speculation on my part. But, if true, I'm glad it happened. A release of material exposing the Obama's marriage woes would almost certainly have provoked a sympathy backlash that would have helped Obama.
