Trump is the master of free PR, and this is brilliant. It costs him nothing, puts his own brand on the public stage in a historic context, and provides real political benefits.
There are millions of morons who have no idea that Zero has fought to keep his past secret. This will force the MSM to do their job and report the truth about Zero’s veiled (and presumably failed) past.
Too many people have never heard Freepers like us ask: “If Obama has nothing to hide in his academic and travel records, why is he spending millions to keep them secret?”
Now, the people will no more about the character of Obama. And the beauty of this October Surprise is that contrary to most dirty tricks which are released so late that the candidate doesn’t have time to respond, this give two weeks for the Obama crickets to chirp.
Why not just forge something?
Trump said he wanted Obama to give permission for them to be released from the schools and the government. He won’t accept another birth certificate pasted on a web page.
Nobody does snark quite like The Donald:

Correct on all counts.
It will look kind of suspicious if Obama does not release his records when a $5 million donation to the charity of his choice is on the line and he rejects it just to keep his records sealed.
But, I'm sure Axelrod will come up with some snarky response to Trump's challenge.
Maybe he decided to delay: “A decision on whether to unseal testimony by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the 1987 divorce proceedings of one of his closest friends has been postponed a day to allow the former Bay State governor and his attorneys to review the records. “
1. I will donate $5 million to Occidental in California, your first undergraduate college, if you release your Occidental records, especially your application form.
2. Or, I will donate $5 million to that Catholic school in Indonesia you attended while living with your mother and your stepfather Sotoreo (sp?) in Indonesia when you were around 10 years old.
Such statements might motivate Occidental officials and students and Indonesian officials and students to put pressure on Obama to accept Trump's offer.

While I agree that at first glance this appears petty and childish, but if there is follow-ups with additional 5 million antes into the pot, it will start to draw attention to Obamie lack of transparency. As it drags on it can make a lot of buzz and make many wonder what is he hiding.
