I don’t really want to get into an argument. I wrote what I originally wrote so that those who read this thread would not take the word of a poster for what the Roman Catholic church teaches about Mormonism. I hoped to include the thought that one should, perhaps, consider what Mormonism teaches.

I wanted to stress checking sources. By doing so, I’ve found that many doctrines espoused by “Mormons” are contradictory, and are so because the doctrine developed over time.

I don’t choose to believe what many other Christian churches believe; and because of my education, I wonder how some of them can truly consider themselves Christian; but they do.

And finally, nowhere did I claim that anyone was “lying about the Mormon belief. . . .” Please be precise and read with care. I take a lot of time to make sure that what I write is what I really mean, so I’d appreciate an effort to read what is written. I work at NOT being emotional in my writing when discussing ideas or pointing out what I perceive to be inaccuracies of either substance or style.

Run-on sentences are particularly difficult to follow and are, therefore, open to misinterpretation. (I refer to the first “sentence” of your post.) This is Free Republic: a site where readers read and writers write!

I hope you saw the OFFICIAL Mormon source in post 73, to partly quote it “”Long before our God began his creations, he dwelt on a mortal world like ours, one of the creations that his Father had created for him and his brethren. He, with many of his brethren, was obedient to the principles of the eternal gospel. One among these, it is presumed, was a savior for them, and through him they obtained a resurrection and an exaltation on an eternal, celestial world. 8 Then they gained the power and godhood of their Father and were made heirs of all that he had, continuing his works and creating worlds of their own for their own posterity—the same as their Father had done before, and his Father, and his Father, and on and on.””

What a crock of lies and deceit you posted, you merely didn’t like the respected Catholic source quoted so you are claiming it as “ word of a poster for what the Roman Catholic church teaches about Mormonism”, Pope John II himself ruled on Mormonism as not being Christian in 2001. Every denomination from Lutherans, to Presbyterians, to Southern Baptists and the Greek Orthodox agree that Mormonism is an entirely different, made up religion, and is not Christian. One of the reasons is Polytheism and that Mitt Romney for instance, is in the process of becoming GOD.

You did claim that the respected Catholic source was lying, or made up the Mormon theology, yet you didn’t question it when you saw the official Mormon source saying the same thing. I get the impression that you harbor some hostility to Christian churches, especially since you seem wounded by the word “cult”, and your eagerness to gather the wagons around Mormonism, and your less than honest and straight forward method.

This is from another highly respected source on Catholic teachings. Tell me your denomination and I will look for their teachings on Mormonism.

“”While individual Mormons may be persons of good conscience, Mormonism itself is a belief system that would reduce the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit from being the three Persons of the one, true, and infinite God to being three limited, finite deities among an uncounted multitude of deities, all of whom merely reshaped small parts of a preexisting cosmos.

Mormonism teaches that human beings may, by practicing the tenets of its faith, become gods and goddesses themselves, with their own planets full of people worshiping them.””
