I would take Romney’s Mormon values over Obama’s values any day.
Too bad other Christians did not feel the same way.
No one stayed home here. All 5 of us got out and voted as early as possible.
At the risk of sounding like a nutcase, I can’t help but think that this is God’s judgment on us. This country has rejected Him on so many levels and now He’s given it what it wants. (I do not say *us* because I don’t want to sound like it includes all those of us who are Christ followers and/or conservatives.)
We’re toast.
And thank you for a stupid and ignorant comment.
I would rather have a conservative prolife atheist over Obama.
Wouldn’t you?
The electorate demonstrated yesterday that it is comprised of more takers than makers. Those takers, who now outnumber us, are not open to a conservative, political philosophy. In fact, they don't even think in terms of political philosophy. They simply vote in terms of "free stuff."
What an ignorant sot of a post.
Who the hell are you to judge a persons heart?
The Republican party nominated a liberal candidate and they lost - again.
It was capitulating conservatives again who picked the worst candidate.......not conservatives with brains.
The GOP-E would be correct it seems. Many of us stayed home or voted third party in the most important election in our lifetime.
A agree that that is a problem in the Body of Christ. I am very cautious about that and about believing something just because a ‘pastor’ tells me, that is what got me INTO Mormonism (with their missionaries and high priests), and what got me OUT of Mormonism was checking things against the Word of God and researching.
I don’t trust anything a pastor tells me, I compare it to the Bible (and having a degree in Biblical studies and being fluent in Greek and Hebrew helps) and I am EXTREMELY cautious of false prophets because I used to follow them (the Mormon ones).
My main calling in ministry to the Mormons is actually to those who have left or are leaving because they have come to a personal saving faith in the Christ of the Bible. I disciple them and help them learn how to test what their pastor says, how to learn to read the Bible (that is a challenge for Mormons who are taught not to trust the Bible), and to discern the issues you mention. That is what God has called me to do and I believe in part why He ALLOWED me (permissive not expressive will) to take my journey into and out of Mormonism, another reason is Mormonism, with all its rules and control, was easy but not spiritually fulfilling (do all the things on this list - an there is an actual list - and you will become a god yourself) and Mormonism broke my spirit and my pride, something that I HAD to experience in order to finally accept Christ alone and His blood shed on the cross to save me.
Stopped reading after that ignorant comment.
One more thing, many here seem to think that this was MY decision, my ‘antimormonism’, or about me. I studied this and I took it to God. I spent MANY MANY hours in prayer on this decision about voting, and even told God that if it were His will I would vote for Mitt. And time and time and time again, it came back that it was NOT his will that I vote for either of them - either through prayer, or bible verses or counsel of other believers.
This was never about me, it was about doing what God called me to and my conscience is clear before God.
And don’t put words in my mouth. The question was regarding the Mormon values I agree with- and the poster specifically asked me to refrain from theology (So I don’t care to hear about the magic underpants, the planet Pluto, etc) We are talking about societal VALUES.
Here are Mormon values from their own website. And I agree with them all:
Strengthening Families
The happiest marriages and families are those grounded on the principles Christ taughtunselfishness, honesty and loyalty.
Service to Others
Jesus spent His life serving others. Following His example brings the most lasting kind of happiness.
Missionary Work
We search for every opportunity we can to proclaim Gods word throughout the world and bless the lives of His children.
Lifelong Learning
Education empowers us to be better people and helps us more effectively contribute to society.
Freedom to Choose
As spiritual children of God were free to choose how our future unfolds. Every step toward Him gives us even greater freedom.
Humanitarian Aid
Caring for the homeless, the hungry and the destitute is one of our missions. We work together to offer immediate relief and hope for a better life.
Good Citizenship
Being a good citizen makes our world a safer and more peaceful place. Our small efforts can have a large impact.
Family History
Coming to know our ancestors helps us better understand who we are, builds bridges between the generations, and binds families together.
abortion, homosexuality, polygamy, illegals....just to name a few
mormonISM is the value of mormons, the two can not be separated.
The loss of saltiness is by Christians who would vote for a pro-abortion pro-gay pro-socialism, regardless of party affiliation, and now you blame the salt.
Morons!
Take to your faith and leave it to the rest of us to deal with the mess.
I believe, but not as you believe. I long ago swore to defend your rights to believe as you desire and I am still ready to defend those rights.
To not vote for someone who does not believe as you do but who will replace a Nazi/socialist dictator and who believes and practices almost all of the same basic Christian values is the most idiotic line of reasoning. You were willing to let the kenyan finish his work of destroying the Republic and the Constitution because of your religious beliefs. That is incredible stupidity. A cult leader? Since the Catholic faith was the church founded by Christ through Peter then your denomination and every other non-Catholic denomination IS A CULT by your logic or illogic.
That stupidity places the perpetrator of the stupidity lower than the GOP elite, democrat voters and the democrat party.
God left the worldly work of voting for a replacement to the national nightmare to all of us and you failed the Constitution that protects your values and faith, the Republic, the nation as a whole.
That, in my belief is a sin against your nation and against God.
By the way, you just voted for a world where child molesters will be free to ply their avocation.
Here I stand, and I've been clear about since day one.
Look at these numbers again. I'm not alone.
2008:
OBama 69,297,997 McCain: 59,597,520
2012
Obama: 54,773,837 Romney 53,716,689
I hope this event is seared into your mind as a turning point in your life. I understand fear of Marxism like I understand fear of flogging.
God can and will forgive Christians who capitulated out of fear like Peter.
As we repent and turn to Him, all thing will be added unto us, not the least of which is a either a proper candidate for 2016.
No there are not.
These charges come from people who will not except that Romney was a liberal and many people did not vote for him for that reason.
I couldn’t have said it any better.
That's odd. The Lord made it manifestly clear to me that I was to vote against that Nebakanezer in the White House.
That was your mistake. Christians love the larcenous, jealous, envious, covetous welfare state. They look to and encourage others to look to the government to meet all their needs and solve their problems rather than trusting the Lord God Almighty.
Bragging about your unwillingness to read on is amazing. It is Christian compliance, support apathy that has gotten us into this mess. Obviously I don’t speak of all Christians.
The problem is that all too many(most?) Christians weigh the good and the bad of the Democrats. And then either decide that the good out weighs the bad and vote Dem. Or decide it’s a draw and sit it out.
My point is that the Dems are bad plus bad. Not just bad on abortion and marriage. But also bad on he evil destructive welfare state.
You might want to expose yourself to challenging ideas in the future.
You actually do not know anything about mormonISM do you?
Well, maybe that nice guy in the lunch room.
