Is this on top of the 41% increased layoffs announced in October?

Yeah - but at least these companies aren’t going to get big tax cuts.

So it’s all good. :)

Some of them should have seen some indications, but how many (at least to their workers) of these come as a ‘surprise’?

How many of these ‘increased’ the impacted number from pre-announced laid off plan, if the plan was in the working?

This is just the beginning. Next we will told that we have to “hail Satan” and that churches will either be taxed if they stay open or closed down.

If they had announced this prior to the election instead of bowing to O-Bozo, the results might have been drastically different

GOP should go for the sequester in the name of “fairness” - more people need to have skin in the game and pay “their fair share.”

Who will pay? The middle-class workforce, of course.

So with another four years for President Obama to look forward to, and the obvious inevitability of Obamacare that this entails, let’s examine the very real jobs that will be lost, and the very real lives that will be affected.

Welch Allyn

Welch Allyn, a company that manufactures medical diagnostic equipment in central New York, announced in September that they would be laying off 275 employees, or roughly 10% of their workforce over the next three years. One of the major reasons discussed for the layoffs was a proactive response to the Medical Device Tax mandated by the new healthcare law.

Dana Holding Corp.

As recently as a week ago, a global auto parts manufacturing company in Ohio known as Dana Holding Corp., warned their employees of potential layoffs, citing “$24 million over the next six years in additional U.S. health care expenses”. After laying off several white collar staffers, company insiders have hinted at more to come. The company will have to cover the additional $24 million cost somehow, which will likely equate to numerous cuts in their current workforce of 25,500 worldwide.

Stryker

One of the biggest medical device manufacturers in the world, Stryker will close their facility in Orchard Park, New York, eliminating 96 jobs in December. Worse, they plan on countering the medical device tax in Obamacare by slashing 5% of their global workforce - an estimated 1,170 positions.

Medtronic

In March of 2010, medical device maker Medtronic warned that Obamacare taxes could result in a reduction of precisely 1,000 jobs. That plan became reality when the company cut 500 positions over the summer, with another 500 set for the end of 2013.

Others

A short list of other companies facing future layoffs at the hands of Obamacare:

•Smith & Nephew - 770 layoffs
•Abbott Labs - 700 layoffs
•Covidien - 595 layoffs
•Kinetic Concepts - 427 layoffs
•St. Jude Medical - 300 layoffs
•Hill Rom - 200 layoffs

Add on those companies reducing hours to keep employees part-time and avoid Obamacare taxes.

I took my wife of 52 years to the doctor today for her cancer check. They informed her that this would be her last check up because Obamacare won’t cover her after age of 70.
I came home and was sitting around thinking of the things to come and I thought of how next the coal industry will be basically shut down and all those people that would be out of work. Then I thought, wait. Wasn't’t it the coal miners that got the union rolling? Well, to make a long story short, as far as I am concerned they and their families can kiss my arse. They have been on strike for their pittally tandrum without ever given one thought how it affected the rest of the country. It was all about them.
They at least get a pass on Obama care, the thing they were instrumental in forcing on me and my family. I worked all my life and never received 1 day of unemployment, food stamps or other government assistance and tried to insure that my wife and my insurance needs would be met in our old age. Now you union hooligan's can get out here and eat your share of crap. Pay back is hell when you deal with democrats. You become useless to them and in the trash you go. They have no honor.
Yes, I am now one of those angry white men. Screw you and your family like you’ve done mine for so long.

People say that the rich need to pay “their fair share.” What about the poor? They get all the benefits and pay little if anything for them. We should have them pay “their fair share.” Then see what kind of attitude they have.
