The Voters who stayed Home (bitter pill: Republicans re-elected Obama)
National Review Online ^ | 11/10/12 | McCarthy

Posted on 11/11/2012 11:27:31 AM PST by pabianice

The key to understanding the 2012 election is simple: A huge slice of the electorate stayed home.

The punditocracy — which is more of the ruling class than an eye on the ruling class — has naturally decided that this is because Republicans are not enough like Democrats: They need to play more identity politics (in particular, adopt the Left’s embrace of illegal immigration) in order to be viable. But the story is not about who voted; it is about who didn’t vote. In truth, millions of Americans have decided that Republicans are not a viable alternative because they are already too much like Democrats. They are Washington. With no hope that a Romney administration or more Republicans in Congress would change this sad state of affairs, these voters shrugged their shoulders and became non-voters.

“This is the most important election of our lifetime.” That was the ubiquitous rally cry of Republican leaders. The country yawned. About 11 million fewer Americans voted for the two major-party candidates in 2012 — 119 million, down from 130 million in 2008. In fact, even though our population has steadily increased in the last eight years (adding 16 million to the 2004 estimate of 293 million Americans), about 2 million fewer Americans pulled the lever for Obama and Romney than for George W. Bush and John Kerry.

That is staggering.

Please tell me the following:

How many years have we heard and known about trouble with the military vote? How many? I recall hearing about this issue in 2000, if not before. Here we are in 2012 and Republicans STILL haven’t fixed this!

How many years have we openly complained about the hack partisans who run the presidential debates? How many? And yet, again, Republicans merrily submit to their own damning public inquest.

How many times have we heard and know about ballot box stuffing by the Democrats? And what, there is nothing that can be done? Ever? We have to lose because of wholsale fraud year after year?

Until the Republican Party WAKES up and stops bringing a squirt gun to a street fight we should never expext to win ANYTHING.

God gave us government. The system gave us two candidates. Its our job to pick the better one. They’ll answer to God for their transgressions.

The media keeps trumpeting this “Republicans stayed home.” Again. BS. The ‘Rats stole this one with a 4 year coordinated, surgical strike on the voting process.

‘’’’Thank you.... finally someone else gets it. How much Soros money went to the Acorn operation. Taxpayers paid for the stealing of votes ... look at West’s race in FL, pure fraud and the paid for media swears up and down noone can find any voting irregularities... yeah right!

ymmv

The GOP is going more liberal. Sure looks like they arent listening.

You could very well be right, but I learned a few years back that I don't have to encourage them. People are going to do what they want to do. I've learned that there are alternatives.

And, I suspect that if the GOP drifts to the left, another party will replace them on the right.

“The D’s never compromise, and they never have intended to, and never will. Just our side HAS to do that.”

Sigh,,,just thinking back.

That was the absolute SUPERIORITY of Regan. He could stick to his principals while at the same time having the communication skills to convince the sheeple, soccer moms, and the like that HE was the one being sensible and it was the liberals that were the extremists.

The way I see it, this mess will only be cleared up at the ballot box or with guns. Another Regan could fix it via the ballot box. Without another Regan rising up somewhere, I’m afraid the only logical outcome will be the second American civil war, this time fought between the ones paying the bills and the ones living off the government tit.

Really, really a sad situation.

So you voted for a guy who had no chance of winning and who has stated he would use military force to implement his version of laws regardless of what the courts say?

There was fraud for sure. Didn’t we expect it with the Chicago thugs, and what did we do? Wasn’t this the intent of motor-voter registration? or states like CA etc that will not tolerate photo and citizenship ID? Extended polling hours? All this stuff benefits the Democrats and the Reagan amnesty is now coming home to roost where millions of illegals and their offspring, now turned citizens are voting en masse for the Rats.

But when all this is said and done, how do we make single white women think and vote like single white men? How do we educate the un-educatable? The indoctrinated 18-30 year olds? Those millions on food stamps? liberal Jews and the Plantation vote? This is a reliable and stable voting bloc for Rats and has now proven itself a veritable Fifth Column in the survival of the Republic aided and abetted in no small measure by the MSM.

Now go read “Why I Despair”

Well, if you voted for Romney and I voted for Tom, I guess that means that there are two of us (as in you and me) who "voted for a guy who had no chance of winning." But, that's ok. If Romney was your favorite candidate, you did the right thing.
