Scandal probe ensnares commander of U.S., NATO troops in Afghanistan
Washington Post ^ | November 13, 2012 | Craig Whitlock

The FBI probe into the sex scandal that prompted CIA Director David Petraeus to resign has expanded to ensnare Gen. John R. Allen, the commander of U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan, the Pentagon announced early Tuesday.

According to a senior U.S. defense official, the FBI has uncovered between 20,000 and 30,000 documents — most of them e-mails — of “potentially inappropriate” communications between Allen and Jill Kelley, a 37-year-old Tampa woman whose close relationship with Petraeus ultimately led to his downfall.

Allen, a Marine, succeeded Petraeus as the top allied commander in Afghanistan in July 2011. He also served as Petraeus’s deputy when both generals led the military’s Tampa-based Central Command from 2008 until 2010.

The FBI first notified the Pentagon of its investigation into Allen’s communications with Kelley on Sunday evening, according to the senior defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss details of the pending case.

In response, Pentagon chief Leon E. Panetta referred the investigation on Monday to the Defense Department’s Inspector General for further review, according to a statement released by Panetta early Tuesday as he was traveling to Australia.

“Obama is using the FBI as an arm of his personal marxist political machine.”

Yes; Obama and Holder are making the FBI do illegal things. You’d think that with thousands of people taking the orders, there’d be a few patriots who would try to fix the problem and get the word out. Where are the Oathkeepers? I gues that group was “big hat; no cattle”.

“zer0 will be busy with this for quite some time”

Zer0 will go play golf and leave the dirty work to the Jarrett-Axelrod “Chicago Cleanup Crew”. Rahm may send in a few players to give the first string a rest from time to time. Ayers & Soros are in the booth, sending in plays.

The MSM will continue to give us insightful articles about Michelle’s wardrobe.

Bill Clinton will bite his lip, shake his head, look sad and bemoan the fact that these generals in whom we placed so much confidence & trust would throw it all away for a few moments of tawdry sex.

"You are aware of the fact that are Maronite Christians in Lebanon? Which is what the Khawam family are."

Yes, AnAmericanAbroad, I do know about Maronite and Coptic Christians.... I have traveled in the Middle East. And notice that I didn't say that the Khawam family was Muslem. I just said they were from Lebanon. They perhaps have family still in Lebanon who might be threatened. I know my Coptic Christian friends in Egypt are under great threats right now. Basically, I was pointing out that this may be another factor in such suspicious circumstances.

Just a thought , but I would say Petraeus was on the trail of people in this country collaborating with the terrorist, being CIA he couldn't investigate so he turned it over to the FBI.

He was getting too close to some very important people, and he found out too late he couldn't trust the FBI.

20-30 thousand pages could have been spread by a virus?

OR

We are assuming one to two pages per email, while maybe it was fewer emails but more pages per email..... as in document dump....

Maybe secrets were being sent and threats were made to expose them “or else”?

I'm sure Boehner'll get right on that.

The twin sister:
“Since her filing, Cohen has delved into Khawam’s past: He’s uncovered court documents from a bankruptcy. He also unearthed a searing, 19-page child custody order from a Washington, D.C., superior court judge calling her out in 2011 for a lengthy “history of abusing the litigation process” and a “willingness to say anything, even under oath, to advance her own personal interests.””

http://www.tampabay.com/news/courts/faced-with-employment-lawsuit-tampa-lawyer-barry-cohen-goes-into-attack/1248260

Jill and her husband have major financial issues.

Twin sister files for sexual harassment.

Jill claims she was harassed by the FBI with a shirtless photo.

This family is a wild card in the equation.

I just can’t figure out who is going to benefit from all of this.

Our side or Obama’s side.

Special Prosecutor: “General Petraeus has testified that the administration knew of the Benghazi attack while it was underway and refused to send assistance, knowingly allowing those men to die.”

Administration: “Petraeus? This administration refuses to respond to allegations from a disgraced, lying, adulterer”.

MSM: “Who was that disgraced, lying, adulterer Petraeus banging and when did he start banging her? That’s the important story here”.

Right out of the Clinton playbook.

As to the number I don’t give a rat’s bottom...those kids (I was one) who go out everyday, do their job and expect the officers to be making it better. What about all the kids that lost limbs while 3 generals are playing sex games... just not right.

No one is talking about the FBI search at Broadwell's home last night. The Wapo has nothing about it on the main web page. Neither does the NYTs.

MSM has been given the directive, do not focus on Broadwell's Oct. 26 speech.

My guess is that Allen's biggest sin was calling Kelley "sweetheart" in an email or two. Even his wife says that's his nature.

The Clinton people are trying their hardest to make this a massive sex scandal to keep it from being about Benghazi.

They know that sex is a way to cover up a lot of other junk. (Ex: Remember how Clinton's thing became all about sex rather than obstruction of justice and perjury?).

Don't think the tactic is going to work this time.

Apparently that has been revised to a few hundred emails. My guess is "sweetheart" pops up a handful of times.

I guess also that we will find out the nature of the emails was work-related.

They're digging for a crime. Petraeus' affair was after he left his military post (no crime) so now they're trying to pin an affair on another high-level military man still in the service so they can attach a criminal probe to the the whole thing.

It stinks.
