Petraeus mistress had substantial classified data on computer: sources

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A computer used by Paula Broadwell, the woman whose affair with CIA Director David Petraeus led to his resignation, contained substantial classified information that should have been stored under more secure conditions, law enforcement and national security officials said on Wednesday.

The contents and amount of the classified material - and questions about how Broadwell got it - are significant enough to warrant a continuing investigation, the officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to comment publicly.

The details about material held by Broadwell, a reserve officer in military intelligence, emerged Wednesday as the Pentagon suspended Broadwell's security clearance.

Remember the husband and wife Russian spy team that got booted along with Ana Chapman. They lived in the US for years and years and had children.

is a psychologically unstable person whose unsteady moral and ethical compass and apparent lack of awareness of her own shortcomings make it impossible for her successfully to navigate her surroundings in a consistent and sustainable way.”

Is that a nice way of saying "sociopath"?

She had a very high security clearance. Note that it does not say that she shouldn’t have had the information - but simply that it should have been “stored under more secure conditions,” probably meaning not on her laptop.

Of course, they all carry these things on their laptops. This is just an excuse for the FBI and others to continue harrassing her. I think she may actually be the one they’re after. She seems to be pretty conservative, and knowingly or not, she may have stumbled on some information that would seriously compromise Obama.

Obama was holding the “affair” - which he and the FBI have known about probably since before Petraeus was appointed - over Petraeus’ head but now Petraeus has done the only thing possible and admitted it. This doesn’t mean that he’s necessarily going to tell the truth about Benghazi in his testimony, though; he lied the first time, and he may lie again to protect himself against perjury.

But Broadwell wasn’t involved and hasn’t testified, so she could be the wild card in this. I wouldn’t be in the least surprised if she is suddenly put into custody on some bizarre and trumped up charge.

....she is a reserve officer in military intelligence. Probably has a TS clearance at a minimum.

I does not matter if she has a clearance level sufficient to be privy. She must have a need to know AND authorization to possess.

Because Obama wants this to be a sex scandal, not a murder scandal.
And the MSM will ensure it.

Just knowing Petraeus whereabouts, his comings and goings, exits and entrances, schedules is classified information, depending on who wants to know those details. Probably, what she has on her computer will not be remotely comparable to- say- troop movements and equipment specs.

I’m guessing, but my prediction is that she had FOUO stuff. “For Official Use Only” for those of you in Rio Linda. Not classified, but required to be protected. This is a gray area as this stuff is available on NIPR (especially AKO) for those who have a need to know. It is frequently found on contractor computer and the rules are rather loose so long as someone is involved in supporting government activities. She certainly can’t be prosecuted for it, if that is what we are talking about.

The real objective here is to smear Petraeus. After he is destroyed, they could care less what happens to Broadwell, and she will never be charged, IMO.

I think “the twins” were probably the ones used as bait in this (not necessarily for sexual affairs, but for confidences) and they are clearly working for Obama.

They both had strong ties to the Democratic party, as did Petraeus’ wife, so I think there’s a lot to examine there. Did his wife perhaps send those e-mails from his account?

Aside from that, the e-mails are pretty vague, and trying to say that Allen was carrying on an affair with Jill what’s her name on the basis of the fact that he called her “sweetheart” and “dear” in his correspondence is ridiculous, because I have known many men who routinely call all women “sweetheart” or “dear.”

But clearly the twins are complete nutcases, and how they got that “embedded” themselves with high ranking military figures at that base and got these people involved in their chaotic personal lives is a true mystery. The question is - who was using them?

One— her clearance was suspended today. Today is Wednesday, correct?

Two—now it is “should have been stored under more secure conditions,”

The narrative changes on an hourly basis.

“The contents and amount of the classified material - and questions about how Broadwell got it - are significant enough to warrant a continuing investigation, the officials said.”

It took THAT long to finishing examining the computer documents of a woman who confessed to being mistress of the CIA director and had potentially threatened another woman who is his close friend?

If they are citing materials on her computer, which they took possession of months ago, they are contradicting themselves.

And, they are just NOW suspending her security clearance?

where before they acknowledged that there was no reason to suspect her of anything other than having an affair with Petraeus and sending non-harassing, non-threatening emails to Kelley.

The ever-evolving factoids are making less sense, not more.

Just heard on FOX (OReily Factor) that none of this classified material is thought to have come from Petraus. Broadwell had access to classified material as part of her previous job.

Nobody seems ever to have said anywhere that she shouldn’t have had this information or even possessed it...simply that it wasn’t being held in a way that was “secure.”

There are very interesting stories about Jill

Such as she knocked on doors on the street until she got someone to sell the house on that street.

No one knows yet how they got the 157,000 for the Charity that was spent on meals, entertainment ,etc and went bankrupt.

Michael Boone loaned Natalie 600,000. I hope someone is tracking down info on him.

That’s interesting. I don’t think there’s really anything to the “classified documents” narrative, but it’s obviously going to be used as a way to get at Broadwell. Her father said there was something else going on, and I suspect he was right.

Not authorized to comment publicly? Now that's ironic.<<

LOL....Yup!....Lots of really “top secret” stuff...that “we the people” can never know about....(like...where he bought her fancy panties in Afghanistan and other top secret stuff)....they're really putting the pressure on the general now!!....if he tells the truth...they'll convict him of treason in a court where the evidence will never see the light of day!!!!
