When a million people knock on your door, you should pay attention.

Since FDR’s dark days, the divide between Americans who keep faith with the Constitution and those who use it for personal hygiene has grown deeper. Many like to blame Barack Obama for our perpetual political antagonism. Yet he is merely the latest manifestation of that eroding evil known as concentrated power. The backlash Barack suffers from those who seek enforcement of America’s express written will started its current fevered pitch via bank bailouts under Bush the Lesser. His errors were preceded by Clinton not serving time for perjury, tax rates that would offend serfs, “law” enforcement stealing property via forfeiture, and the ever growing militarization of federal agencies in order to evade the Posse Comitatus Act intent. It is a long and rapidly growing list of injuries and usurpations.

It is inconvenient for Obama that he is the back-breaking straw.

With his reelection, a number of people have abandoned hope for the union.  In an interestingly snarky form of public protest – the very best kind – they hijacked Obama’s own White House web site to lodge petitions for secession. Within short order, petitions were filed for all 50 states and over a million people registered a desire to disown their uncle Sam. The drive appears to not yet be waning and even serious news organizations (which excludes ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS, Fox, CNN, MSNBC ...) have climbed their pundit podiums to pronounce what they do not yet understand.

This is just the beginning.

Freedom craving people have the quaint habit of getting what they want. Some escape authoritarian nations to breathe free, resting aside dented golden doors. Other raise arms against their oppressors, as Mubarak, Gaddafi and Assad have recently learned. Like life, freedom tries to find a way and given the tiniest patch of soil, will grow. Obama’s petition site is merely the first rains to nurture an inevitable confrontation between those who protect and defend the Constitution and those falsely pledge to do so.

Odds are long against secession, though there are many flavors of that pie. Most disconnection will be individual and private. Some folks will find legal ways of disassociation. Others will avoid feeding the beast by not paying their taxes. Many will actively subvert process and policy to waste the time, money and patience of every Federal employee. Some will make members of armed federal agencies eat bullets.

When a million people knock on your door, it is wise to listen.

But state-wide secession is not impossible. Some will argue that it is unconstitutional, though this matters not if the Constitution is in a state of perpetual violation. It is possible to create functional disengagement by states. This takes many forms, from denying federal policy through non-cooperation to actively arresting and incarcerating federal agents for unconstitutional activities. It might involve permitting citizens to discount their tax payments, to offset federal thievery and then defanging all IRS agents and federal courts within state borders. It could involve mobilizing reservist to enforce practical separation and to protect its citizens.

Petition protests are not always mere pleas for redress. They are often battle flags – polite warnings that intolerable conditions preface inevitable consequences. They are literary cannon balls flying across the bow of dictator yachts and ultimatums nailed to doors. They are warnings both to oppressors and oppressed that unless correction is forthcoming, corrective action is unavoidable.

This bum from Chicago is stealing our country out from under us, and we set here and take it. It escapes us that when it is gone we will never be able to get it back. The world will never let there be another America, because it was so dangerous. Free people expressing free speech, carrying weapons of mass destruction, voting for their leaders. The Bill of Rights would never be perpetuated in the country where it was born. It is now or never.

At this point, there is not enough motivation for secession. But there will be if Obama overextends his new flexibility or if it becomes evident that the election was won with massive fraud.

Any specific suggestion on exactly how to do this? File EPA complaints against Lefties? Filing religious exemption to 0-care by claiming to be a Muzzy(no can’t even bring myself to fake that) or Amish?

We should just concede the FedGov™ to the socialists. It is lost. Having said that, we need to create 50 states with Republican governors a legislatures that will wield the power of the 10th amendment up to and including the option of secession. There was a time when the state was superior to the Federal, it can happen again. It is the way the Constitution originally codified our republic.

The more I think my way through the concept of secession, the more I like the idea. Here’s why:

When the regime begins to push our people harder than they’re now doing, and when the coming economic hardships and regulatory insanity cause even greater levels of anger, disillusionment, resolve amongst the people to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, I think we may see one or more red state legislatures finally draft Acts of Secession, which will then be signed by all legally vested parties and presented to Washington.

Should Texas lead the way to the exits, I predict that at least half a dozen other states will follow in rapid succession, joining Texas in a new American Union. This would all be done without a single drop of blood shed between the rebellious states and the federals. This is the 21st century, not the 19th. No blood will be spilled over this purely political divorce.

Once several red states have disengaged themselves from the parasitic maw of Washington, the old union states will begin to falter, as the economic engine that feeds the Socialist system in this country will be too starved to meet its obligations. More red states will flee as the days darken. Collapse and calamity in the blue states will ensue, as generationally crippled millions feed upon each other, then storm the gates of power, demanding to be fed.

Sheer bedlam will rule, and the statist infrastructure will crumble under the weight of too little real production, and too many takers to sustain.

When the old union reaches that level of failure, we can expect to see passionate entreaties to the former red states to reunite with the old union in a restored constitutional republic. Leftist ideals will be cast aside and burned, as reality proves what falsehoods they always were. Imagine an entire nation ‘mugged by reality.’

It’s at this point, that I see the re-unification of the country.

I like your post #9. What has not been taught in history classes for a VERY long time (because no one teaches history, anymore) is that, when the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution and added the Bill of Rights, the fledgling nation of America was the laughingstock of the world.

At that time, the world was ruled primarily by, monarchs, dictators, tyrants, war lords, emporers, czars and kaisers. The people had little or no voice in what their government did, their only choice was to comply or face the consequences.

For just over 200 years, America was able to look at its foes and ask, “Still find us funny?” But, no more. The hatred of people like Obama and Soros and tyrants around the world for America, the bastion of freedom in the world, will finally get the last laugh.

I never believed that I would see this in my lifetime and am so ashamed of my country for allowing it!

The political battlefield in the USA has two hills, one Federal and one State. Yes, the socialist have taken the high ground on one of the hills. The other hill is up for grabs and IMO the more import if not overlooked for the last 150 years.
