Ping List for my rambling thoughts. It’s been a while since I last rambled here but for first time in months, I had a quiet afternoon all to myself.
For me, its still waaay too early to get into the Christmas spirit, but I feel it coming on nonetheless. Funny, the worst year in years, and I feel far more "Christmas-y" than I have in years. I don't try to scorn the corny stuff anymore, I just succumb, and of course don't let in overshadow the true meaning of Christmas.
You are asking an awful lot of Nicholas Cage, whose decor style is described as “fratboy bordello”
A Rotisserie is like a morbid Ferris wheel for Chicken.

They weren't married. Legally anyways.
I enjoyed “The Family Man.”
I also enjoyed your writing. Put me on your ping list. It was The Pogues what did it.
I do NOT miss big cities. I’m happy in the midwest.
Wow. You make Massachussets sound so beautiful.
I was based there for a year (1997) and my memories of Christmas there are of hearing a grandmother casually saying G__ d__ f-kers, seeing the ocean turn to slush, tears freezing on my eyelashes as I waited for one of the last busses to take me home by way of a potholed road and seeing a guy drag a dead Christmas tree out of his house in May.
Oh, and going to bed hungry that Christmas Eve as I got in late and had no food in the house.
Are there two Massachussets?
the last scene of the "Lord of the Rings..Return of the King"....SamWise is sad because he's lost his best friend...but as his best friend implies in his writing, SOMEBODY'S got to carry on, be happy, WRITE the story....
its not much comfort considering the evil in the white house and in America itself, but its something to sustain us...
we have to keep on keeping on....
Metv, Christmas music,a good spouse, and belief in God...
Good read.....Nice xmas shot of da crib too
I guess it was two years ago or so at 5am driving to work on Coast2Coast which I never listen to otherwise, an economic wonk was on saying the problem with America was we expect 65% or higher to own their homes, when in reality it should be ~50% because home ownership limits mobility and entreprenurialship and more or less dooms stagnating
regions.
I remember being offended deeply but now wish I’d paid more attention. Up-rooting from your home is unthinkable, but anymore the alternative is equally unthinkable.
Thanks SamAdams76. I lived in your neck of the woods for a some years. I did not mind bailing out either.
Very nice read, Sam. I get those chickens sometimes too, they’re surprisingly good. I was ill for Thanksgiving (boo!) but the next day I got one of those chickens and had sweet potatoes on the side. It was as close as I could get to what I missed at the feast the day before. My faithful dog got a good chunk of my pork chop tonight. He had about a third of it. It makes him happy and that’s a good thing.
I am less in the Christmas spirit this year than back in 2008. This is worse. We know what will happen this time for sure and there will be no restraint shown by the socialists now. I cling only to my Lord and Savior and trust in Him alone.
Good luck on the job. I am a few hundred miles north of Chicago. I don’t recommend Wisconsin. We have the nastiest liberals on the planet here. I’d love to leave here and never look back, but the family is all here and the husband still has a decent job. Nearest decent state I know of is Nebraska as far as percentage of conservatives. I hope your job is there! Best of luck to you. God Bless.
I’ve been lurking here since 2008 and I’ve always enjoyed your stream-of-consciousness writings. Can you add me to your ping list, please?
As for Starbucks, I refuse to buy coffee where I’m required to order a “grahn-day” instead of a large. I just feel too stupid saying it. I’m a Dunkin’ person, anyway.
BTW, thanks for talking about coffee so much....now you’ve made me want some.
Nice read.
Good rambling.
I spent 25 years in Boston and 25 years now here in San Francisco. I share your impressions. Let me know where you end up as I need a new refuge soon.
Enjoyed reading this. Rotisserie chickens are one of my favs, and my husband is thrilled that 25 Days of Christmas has started on Family channel.
Merry Christmas to you and your wife, and good luck on your future endeavors. Change can be a good thing.
